Arizer Solo 3

What I think I’m realizing is that, while everyone talks about the flow restriction of the Arizer stems you also need to ride that restriction or you risk combusting.

Getting back into vaping after a six week break I suddenly started to see what y’all meant about combusting and couldn’t understand why my unit would suddenly be combusting when it never did before. It’s not like it does ota auto updates of the firmware (though I’d love to see one that could!). Finally, after @420vapezone suggested I hit my Veazy harder I realized (after hitting my Veazy harder) that maybe I was actually ripping less hard than I needed to.

Tried ripping a bit harder on the solo 3 and voila! Big, beautiful clouds that tasted glass path clean. Not a hint of combustion. I use a high flow stem with a screen instead of the stock stems’ disc with holes so I have to “manually” control my rate. If I were using the Arizer tubes I’d be right up against the restriction (because that’s just who I am). But with my stem, coming back from my break apparently wasn’t like riding a bike. I worried about overpowering the heater by drawing too hard so I overcompensated and went too soft. The result? Combustion.

My guess is that the vape is designed to provide the proper balance of heat as much through airflow management as through electronics. The design they used may heat amazingly well but doesn’t allow the control necessary to support proper vaporization beyond a narrow range of airflows. The stem restriction is probably almost at the upper limit of what the heater can do but there’s also a lower limit below which the air gets too hot and… voilà! Combustion

Hey dude, long time no speak! I just went looking for the old spot, only to find its gone, as well as the Asylum, then I found myself here. Its nice to see some old names popping up in these threads.

Anyway, what is this upgrade program about? Ive got an old solo, which is on its last leg, and have been considering a new one.

I noticed a couple of people in the thread seemed to be having some similar issues with the device seeming hotter than the temp setting says. I haven’t had any sessions to combust on me what I’m noticing is the device itself feels way hotter than I’d expected. As in hot enough that it’s uncomfortable to hold after about two back to back sessions with max temp of 365/370 F. I had a Solo 3 V2 for a little over a year before I had to send it in for some warranty work and they ended up sending me a new one. I don’t remember my other device getting that hot after more sessions on higher temperatures. Anyone got any ideas?

Mine gets hot, but not uncomfortably so. That said, I usually run in on demand, which would give a little cooling break.

I generally end my sessions at 410ºF though.

Mine runs warm after 2 sessions but not hot, seems not normal to me

I love that the Arizer solo 3 has such a great battery life, but why did they make the battery indicator so tiny ?

The green one has a monochrome screen, doesn’t it? I don’t find mine too hard to read. It’s white against the dark screen. And it turns red at low charge, then blinks red when it’s on its last legs. I’d imagine all that would be harder to see with only one color on the screen.

Also on mine it turns red, it’s only very hard to see how much is left because it’s so small.

I have the green V2 and I agree. The indicator is also a tiny bit too small which doesn’t help

My Solo 3 is the v1 version and I find it very hard to see the battery indicator. It is incredibly faint and though it does turn red when on last legs it’s so faint I have to put my eye damn near on top of it to see.
