I’m not involved in this other than as a member, but I would guess the limits are for new people. On one hand I see the frustration of it (it drove me up the wall on Reddit until I finally got enough Karma points), but the flip side of that is that I have seen too many groups have to lock down and start moderating every post because of idiots creating an account, filling the group with spam until they are kicked off, only to create another account and do it again. It makes sense to make the person prove they actually have an interest in DHVs before giving them full access.
But like I said, I am just a stoned user and know nothing.

It’s pretty easy to increase the trust level assignment with some basic involvement. just read posts, like the good ones, and post/reply. it all adds up pretty quickly.
For me, the answer was yes. Many people seem fine without one, or two, or six.
I was not fine without one.

to the community for providing all the info for a fence sitter like me. Metatron with the med advice. The knowledge base here is chef’s kiss. Lots to ponder, And that I should get the joystick first. But some near day in the future I will have to go mandalorian. So far I’m happy babystepping with the tolerance. But yeah eventually will get in the dance. 
Using a Zen Leaf from Cannabis Hardware
Leave it on for periods of time to micro dose and boost my edibles through the day
Fill my bowl about a third of the way and get 2 hits per bowl, terpy first hit and sawdust clean up, joking of course but most of the flavor is in that initial hit
You can top off the bowl if you have a diffuser head but any blowback from your rig/water pipe will get into the head and you will get burn off that needs to run its course before your next hit
Constantly get my injector heads dirty which is why I stick with diffusers
Probably have some time this summer to experiment with different grinds and the two ball head styles
Another ZX user here. Did I need a ball vape, no. But I enjoy trying different vapes so much that I knew it was only a matter of time before I got one. I knew I didn’t want to own multiple ball vapes so I went for the one that looked like the pinnacle to me.
The taste is unparalleled in my collection. 100% zirconia materials other than the rubies. I love it.
My Arizer XQ2 mods I did work very well for this. Long, slow, dense vapor, hookah style sessions are exactly what I’m after. I can turn the temps down to about 390F - 410 to draw out the session. im still getting very satisfying hits and the flavor improves also.
The way I have it set up now really reminds me of vaping on my old Boundless Terra V2, the version made after the recall for the smoking teflon tape.
Ive not tried a ball vape yet, I do believe the VB1.5 will be my choice when I do unless something changes between now and then.
To add an edit… after really trying it again on lower temps I’m guessing a ball vape would work better for this. Not that i douted it, but what I loose on the Arizer is the ability for slow, full, easy sips filled with dense vapor dropping below about 450 or so. The flavor is still great at those higher temps because the flower is far away from the element and it’s such an easy pull to get my lungs filled with vapor the herb doesn’t get too hot and zero char at 460. I no longer have to draw so hard that brown, very dry avb gets stuck in my dome screen. At 477F I did get a little char with the same draw. Of course it’s full convection also so it’s a bit longer draw.
I do think one of these days I am going to drop about a whole gram in the cloud chamber just to see where that takes me, how long I stay there, and how long the session last. Then immediately take a 3 day t-break the day after.
I would have to say if you are a bong guy or gal, then yes you need one. And if you’re not into bongs, then what are you even doing? All joking aside, if you’re not into bongs, then portables are your best bet. But if you like big rips off bongs, then a ball vape is your best friend.
I don’t want one. And concentrates I don’t think are for me. My nausea’s well-served with Frolic, Lobo and a few DVs. Flower induces hunger. I suspect a ball vape would push my already-high tolerance higher. Ball vapes seem to cross over into hobbyist territory. I’m not at Death’s Door yet where I’d need to really amp up the MJ.

If you want to dabble but tolerance is an issue, the IO Hornet is the answer. It’s micro doser designed around that concern and it’s natively compatible with dynavap tips, so as little as .05 of a g.
My two cents on this thread proposition are as follows. The short answer….yes for the most part. The long answer here goes.
Timing matters with your Ball Vape personal evolution. When I first discovered the FC culture I had to start with baby steps. I had to work my way through many of the options and experiences to be had out there. Everything is relative to your own personal life experience so when I made the change a tabletop wasn’t feasible it had to be portable. Then finances jump in, how much and how fast you’re willing to commit to it. When I started off with the “lesser vapes” they were exactly what was appropriate for me at that time with the big boys of the DHV’s an obvious evolution from there. A Ball Vape would have been way too much for me to handle back then. I equate it to dabbing with a Banger or slurper right off the bat I can handle that now but not starting off. I needed to go through that “education” to get my system ready for a more “senior” level experience and ready for that “Doctorate” course with the big guns. I imagine for some who never truly push that tolerance envelope to far a great portable or desktop would be perfect for them with nothing needed evermore. So for those vapists their answer is obviously No. Overall I feel that many vapists will fall into that flavor and volume chase where a Ball Vape is the finish line we aspire too. The speed of that flavor/volume climb maybe relative to the individual but the path is there to follow and most will enjoy that journey.
couldn’t agree more. I hit the io I would say 50% of the time and I own ALOT of vapes. The thing is just so versatile while respecting tolerance
Ball vapes are amazing but people online act like every smoker suddenly needs one lol. If you only smoke casually a few nights a week they can honestly feel like bringing a flamethrower to light a candle. Tolerance goes nuclear fast with those things too.
I’m 3 1/2 years into ball vapes. I’m retired and usually home most of the day, kids have long since moved out. I couldn’t do most of my vaping like I do now if I was younger with 4 kids at home.
My Freight Train Pro is my 1 or 2 hit monster. Wired injector that’s wide open and really hits hard. 1 and a clean up or 2 full hits is how this one is set up.
My Cannabis Hardware Moab/ Mercury/Shovelhead is my 1 hitter. Wireless diffuser that gives a totally different hit than my FTP. Smoother, less coughing, different high.
The fact that I can load a bowl, take a hit, debowl, and get on about my day in less than 60 seconds, is a huge plus. They stay on 10-12 hours a day in the kitchen.
I have a Volcano Hybrid sitting right next to them at the ready, and 2 Venty’s. I have others, but that’s all I really use anymore. I like my sessions also, but I can do in a ball vape in 1-2 hits, that would be a 5 minute, 20 hit session with a portable.
Yes, I really need a ball vape.
@temiko388 - I agree that not everyone NEEDS a ball vape. Many people are happy hitting their Pax or DaVinci and have no desire for anything else. If you want big hard hits though, nothing will compete with a ball vape. Even some light users want hard and fast hits either because they don’t want to spend the time it takes with smaller hits or because of the flavor.
As far as tolerance, yes it can increase tolerance, but tolerance is based on use and consumption, not device. Before I learned to watch it, I jacked up my tolerance with a Mighty+, it didn’t need a ball vape.
Also keep in mind that how big and hard of a hit you get is up to you on most devices, including ball vapes. While I’m moving back to bigger hits, for the last week or so I’ve been playing with low temperature session on my Universal Baller, actually taking smaller hits than I get from my Lobo. I can pull a session out to 20 minutes, great for watching movies at night, but I keep forgetting to raise the hammer at the end of the hit, so I’m getting the head dirty.

Big bowled ball vapes can definitely be an enabler, but in reality there are just as many big bowled non ball vapes.
Volcano is the original tolerance killer with its 1g bowl
