Kind of similar to a chiller but maybe more efficient since the cooling is so close to the exhaust. I like vaping a mixture of flower and concentrate to dial down the onset but it can be a bit harsh on the first hit depending on the concentrate. Trying some shatter and kush which is turning out to be fairly mellow. The sauce and diamonds hit can be choker as it is thick vapor that seems to move through the water pipe fast. Rosin is rosin, when in doubt choose rosin! The best imo with the flavor of flower but the hit of any other concentrate.

I’ve found adding a fine mesh screen is essential for reducing the harshness of hits, which suggests a portion of the harshness comes from dislodged tricomb membranes. I put a corse screen followed by a fine screen and then a short stack of rubies in a WPA attached to a J-hook and the result is cool and much less harsh than without the screen. Probably this is some of what the water does too in order to reduce harshness.

@invertedisdead was working on a passive desktop cooling unit called the Juice Box. I preordered it and think it’s still planned to complete. It’s kind of supposed to be a more cost effective offering versus the Box from Lidavel.

The fine screen adds just a little draw resistance. I don’t really notice it unless it gets clogged. In a stem pack, The best way I’ve found to prevent this is to put the screen either right under the corse screen that holds the herb or after the short stack of rubies. The first is preferable because it is then a snitch to clean. I use an extra-fine screen and a tool from Delta 3-D studio to press into a basket. Initially I tried to just load the herb into the extra-fine screen but it clogs too fast. Instead I nest a small corse inside to hold the herb and that fixed it. Also being close to the heat it doesn’t collect resin this way.

Recently I’ve been relying more on vapor path length for cooling. Before that I was using a dry 250 mL dry globe, which worked well with most of the house vapes. That said, I’m usually chasing taste with small loads at relatively low temps, so my cooling needs reflect that.

i have an Iceborn 2 from Tvape. It’s OK. Connecting it is a bit of a hassle since the tubes and connectors aren’t standard sizes, but it works. The vapor is very cool. Since I use it so rarely, I haven’t had to clean it yet, but it comes apart for easy cleaning.
I have a few beefs with it, but I think they addressed them in the Iceborn 3. The main one is simply the need to keep it frozen! I don’t want to put it directly in the freezer as that might cause odor, so I put it in two ziplock bags then into the freezer. It would be good for a long session, but for sip and go, it’s not practical.
I also read on reddit a beaker bong filled with marbles cools really well, but because of the angle, doesn’t work well with ball vapes. So, I did a little woodwork with scraps, and came up with this (which I also posted on FC a while back). I also have a pic of it with the Iceborn. It’s cools remarkably well without the Iceborn. I run it dry.

I have been using a straight shot glycerine chiller (freeze pipe) to cool vapor lately. The cap allows me to control the amount of air and cools sufficiently. Added another few pieces from freeze pipe in the form of ash catchers. One of them is a glycerine chiller with a cool design. Between the two cooling points I should be able to super cool the vapor.
