Time for some controversy. Dosing capsules, a topic that remains important in the world of vaporizers if you love them or not. And besides an easy way of loading your vape it is also a great tool to change the signature of your vaporizer.

Before we start, dosing capsules will restrict your airflow and make your bowl smaller, that’s just a fact. So if you like the most open draw and as much herb as possible in your vape you better skip them.

From the start I loved them, so easy to fill, your vape stays cleaner and on the go nothing beats them. But the capsules provided by my vapes muted the flavor, still acceptable but noticeable. So I went dawn the rabbit hole and find out that the materials used changed the flavor and heating a lot.

Storz & Bickel aluminium ones, to easy to bend, mute the flavor and it’s a throw away product. The heating time is acceptable. Best replacement, gold plated cupperbased ones. They are a tiny bit smaller, a tiny bit more restricted but fast heat up and they give your S&B vapes a better extraction and the taste is really very good, for me better than without dosing capsules. Works also very well with smaller amounts.

HR Rouge 2 steel ones, slow heat up and muted flavor. Best replacement gold plated steel tinymight capsules. Better heat up and much better flavor

Wolkenkraft aris ultra steel ones to small, to restricted and slow heat up. Best replacement Fenix titanium ones, not that restricted, looks smaller but more place inside, fast heat up and very good flavor

Just very recently I found some gold plated steel ones for Arizer Solo. Very small, good for micro dosing and surprisingly very good flavor and fast extraction.

So if you like dosing capsules or you like to change the signature of your vape, look for gold plated or titanium ones, you might be surprised by the results. A dosing capsule with a little restriction can give you a touch more conduction resulting in much thicker satisfying vapor.

Of course this is just my personal humble opinion after years testing vaporizers with dosing capsules. Much love to you all

I have been using my Veazy in capsule only mode since new. My limited experience has been with stock S&B aluminum and aftermarket titanium capsules from VGoodiez.
They aren’t my favorite but the pros outweigh the cons for mobile use in my opinion.
Super easy and discreet unloading/reloaded. No one has to even see cannabis is involved.
Titanium gets the win between the two. I have not tried gold plated, heard positive feedback from multiple sources so they seem worth a try.

Meh, when I first got my Mighty+ I was a huge fan of capsules. It was something I looked for when I got a new vape. As time passed though, my tastes evolved and I actually prefer no dosing caps in most cases.

I do still use capsules when I go out. It’s just easier to swap out a capsule walking down the street than it is to refill the oven.

Flavor wise, I don’t notice much difference in materials. I tend to use the manufacturers capsules, so Al in the S&B vapes, SS in the Lobo and DaVinci, and gold plated in the AVLP2. I don’t have capsules for the Solo 3 or TM2, but when the TM2 worked I sometimes used the S&B capsules. If the Frolic I have used the S&B and the AVLP2 capsules, but usually use the S&B ones in it.

Capsules are so great and useful but after using many other methods I’ve definitely moved away from them personally. Would be interested in trying out some of the recommended ones in the OP because it muting the flavour really is the biggest issue for me. Still don’t mind filling up a bunch if I’ll be out of the house for the whole day/overnight, though.

Tafee’s capsules are a fantastic middle ground between keeping the convenience and losing the downsides but of course they only work for their own stupid expensive products lol

Definitely would be interested in trying some aftermarket capsules in my Veazy, but I was most intrigued by the ones for the solo 3. Haven’t run across those yet but, depending on how they perform, they might be a great way to increase the convenience factor, especially if you’re going to be away from your normal vape space.

Turns out lots of places have them here in the US. My fault for not noticing them before. Vgoodiez has them in ss or gold plated Al. Price isn’t bad and includes an aluminum storage tube.

I have used the stainless Vgoodiez capsules in my Frolic since I purchased it 8 months ago. I tried one of their titanium capsules today for the first time and I felt like it was producing hotter vapor than I was used to. Looks like more testing will be required.

I like dosing capsules but they mute the flavor, for on the run, you can’t beat them..but I don’t use them much..& the only capsule that made the flavor better, is the Roffu..it’s amazing when you pair the Roffu w/ the glass mouthpiece, the SS bowl & a dosing capsule..WoW..it’s pretty amazing what it does for the flavor vs the glass bowl & direct pack..

I almost exclusively use the aluminum S&B capsules with the Frolic. Yes, they are janky and a pain in the ass to open for the first 1-2 times but overall they work great when on the move, and add some conductive evenness to the AVB. I can stuff them real full as well, gives a somewhat restricted draw but the heater manages to power right through the capsule and gives some mighty hits.

I have lost interest in using Dosing Capsules in general.

My fingers are not comfortable when filling or emptying them. I truly tried them all. In my experience it has been very easy for me to dump, brush and fill my vapes straight-up.

I do however recommend them whole-heartedly for all of the patients that I work with and provide vaporizers to.

I very rarely microdose. If I need a tiny hit, I use a vaporizer with the ability to tiny-up my dose… or take just one hit from a full load.

I order capsules for the patients. The S&B dosing capsules already were the correct size for the Mighty… One friend gifted me reducing chambers for Plenty and Volcano to use with those capsules. I gifted the reducing Chambers to others. I had almost 100 new S&B Capsules, but I sold those on FC.

You are 100% correct about the aluminum capsules. Getting a used S&B capsule open is a task for the younger users with nimble, patient fingers!

I encourage, I approve, I just don’t use.

I tried the dosing capsules on the Venty and I wasn’t fan of what it did to the taste. Anyone else have similar experience.

I had a similar experience, but manual dexterity required, and the added time it took to fill capsules was worse in my particular case.

If you got the possibility try a gold plated or titanium one, much better flavor, or maybe it’s just not for you :grinning_face:

Nice writeup, Sabina. :thinking: I used capsules in my new Lobo, considering the device costly. Convenient but they take away from the taste. For a whole year I rotated capsules, soaked in isopropyl to clean etc. Worked fine.

Year later I replaced Lobo with Frolic and just didn’t bother with capsules. Freedom! Now I sometimes use Lobo without and there is a taste difference.

I plan to use dosing caps for my solo3 when I need a bit of discreetness. I have a few steel ones I got from Ali, and they work as expected. I was thinking of getting the XL ones from EDC, and I see vgoodiez has gold plated aluminum. Anyone try those?

Also, any recommendation on the gold plated steel ones in the USA? Only place I see them is a German store.

I didn’t try those but gold plated ones always taste better in my opinion, I’d give it a try
