It is very silly that there are like five posts in a row in the Flaske shipping thread I can’t see now because someone else decided people having fun talking amongst themselves was too off-topic or whatever. Being so strict about every post in every topic in that way can only limit discussion and make people not wanna be here imo
Let me clear something up.
All of those flag messages you received, and all of of your posts being hidden, is not moderation.
Those are other members flagging your posts as inappropriate and the software hiding them.
They’re all in queue waiting for a moderator to clear it up.
There’s been very little actual moderation.
Is there an option in the settings to allow members to see flagged posts, like where it would add an option to make the content of the post visible even if it still remains in a flagged status?
I’m not sure how many people need to flag a post before it becomes hidden. Is it just one? Because that would be a shame if one person being randomly annoyed about “off-topic” discussions means a bunch of posts aren’t visible.
all 6 of those messages were flagged by the same user
and it only took one flag to hide them all
i changed some of the settings to hopefully stop automatically hiding posts on the flag
this is very frustrating
methinks you’re jumping to harsh judgements without understanding what’s actually happening ![]()
Thanks for fixing those settings Troy.
This is more just a generic statement not directed at any specific person, but it’s ok for discussions to drift in and out every so often. This is a dry herb vape community yes but it is a community and one where you want people to enjoy talking with each other, part of which is that sometimes a conversation will flow naturally into other topics. That’s a good thing and imo not worth reporting or anything unless it becomes a serious distraction ![]()
Thanks Esco!
I was simply commiserating with a fellow member and discussing a favorite tv show, one which I watch while vaping. No harm no foul in my book!
My other post was stating an obvious fact there are vendors out there who make accessories for popular vapes and will probably do so for the Flaske! Again no harm no foul!
Lastly I owe Troy & Jerry a public apology for my “huffy” post, I kinda hollered b4 I was really hurt and I perceived the mods(Troy& Jerry) had launched on me which got my back up.
Public apology to Troy & Jerry, MY bad, can only speak for myself! I APOLOGIZE for my flash of anger. See what happens when you assume? You know the saying…
Yeah, I gotta say that quick little distraction of Resident Alien talk helped brighten my otherwise bummer afternoon. I’m happy to hear that it wasn’t moderated out.
wait that was all Resident Alien talk? I love that show, currently watching it again for the 2nd time ![]()
Re: off-topic clean up, it’s an on-going mod discussion - just waiting for @stickstones to post his write-up. I personally envision off-topic posts being cleaned up 48 hours later, and only in master threads
Lol you serious that seems kinda fucked unless theres more to it. Ill check out of here if thats case fuck that
Troy im gonna be honest your mods on 420vz been on my ass by playing favorites in the past someone starts shit I check it and i get the timeout lol. Problem with most moderators is separating bias. Why for me personally id let things just fly unless it gets out of hand let the people form their own opinions. Make them scroll a bit through the mud but least you wont be scrutinized for hiding things.
If the first post has all the pertinent info i dont see why the need to moderate much below it when these threads have 700 replies anyway
Yeah I had a joke post auto hidden because someone didn’t get the joke.
It did say in the flag that it was hidden by a member of the community and then Troy unhid it.
I imagine “unmoderating” the moderating would get as equally time consuming and annoying.
It seems to me that many people seem to be unaware that this forum is a work in progress, and that the structure and flow of it is being openly discussed as we grow.
That shit doesn’t happen everywhere.
As a group, let’s exercise some patience while the details are worked out, hmm?
Asking folks to refrain from discussing politics and religion, while requiring master threads to only be about the vaporizer in its subject is hardly dystopian.
Lighten up.
To be frankly honest: Troy and Jerry have taken on a HUGE expenditure of time without pay. They are the ONLY ones to step up when FC could not be salvaged and invest time. I see that these comments have already been replied to by @420vapezone , but I just needed to say something here.
It is not a “delusion”, but their efforts and investment is a “Grand” act. Some people have delusions of grandeur. Opening and maintaining a new web forum is pretty much a true act of “Grandeur”!
I think the key is communication, folks will “lighten up” if they understand the concept and goal of the rules and what you are trying to create. For me, I’m enjoying being part of something that’s growing and I’m ok with rolling with the punches while it all gets worked out.
@GrindheadJim Most forums don’t allow discussion of the rules. Here they do. Some people these days want drama anywhere they can generate it.
I think if you continue reading through this thread, you will see that an apology was made and it’s all good.
Shit gets heated at times and tempers fly, we all care about this subject a whole lot or we wouldn’t be here. My point is we’re human, we get frustrated and mad sometimes, the important thing is everyone was cool in the end.
Vitolo u r correct!
I have already fessed up and admitted I assumed and ya’ll know what happens when asssuming, right?
I publicly apologized and will show more restraint next time and less assumption!
I didn’t mention anyone’s name. This is a group discussion, and I believe we can solve it collectively. If this were a one-person issue, it would probably not be discussed this thoroughly.
While I don’t think it relevant to the current discussion, I will take the opportunity to say that I am direct. I mean what I say and I say what I mean. I don’t do vague, and I don’t have a problem calling things (or people) as I see them. All that to ask that if I am somehow unclear when posting, please ask rather than assume.
Hey guys! Sorry I’ve been MIA…doing some real work this week. It looks like this discussion has naturally led into what was going to be the next rules topic. And yes, we are still learning the system and what settings to adjust as we go along. Now…
We want to talk about this forum’s structure, and what we’re trying to implement here. We want the master threads for specific vapes and products to be succinctly useful to the community and the public, in general. The vision is that these master threads would function like an owners club where members can hang out and talk about their products. When we spend a couple pages talking about how that specific vapes works with concentrates, the moderators can break that conversation out into its own thread that can make that subtopic instantly available to anyone, and not eventually buried within a 300 page thread. We have already done this several times and it has worked well.
But we also want to keep some of the clutter out of the master threads without killing the vibe or stifling conversation. Inevitably, there will be a lot of posts in the master threads that have nothing to do with the vape, like where someone is from, or what their favorite band is. When we need to clean up a thread of these types of posts, we could just delete them forever, or we could somehow archive them, maybe in a general clutter thread. What do you guys want to do here?
Do we need to keep the clutter?
Will people feel offended when their clutter is cleaned up?
We’re not trying to control the conversations, just organize them…Thoughts?
