Anyone had any luck with adding glass marbles to a dry bubbler? I use the Chugga Jug 2.0 dry and I’m wondering if the benefits outweigh the annoyance of getting them in and out to clean.

Used marbles in a small bubbler (NWTN Deco) until recently but they were very easy to get out. Decided to stop to chase more flavour but they definitely added to cooling.

I’ve done it with small bubblers and thought it worked great.
I’d like to try with larger bubblers and bigger balls, but haven’t made the financial commitment
Seems like they can go longer between cleanings. Could they be cleaned while remaining in the bong? ISO and hot water should take care of everything

I posted this before but I have done it like this for six months or so:
I left them in there and just soaked it with hot tap water first to slowly heat the glass, then boiling water. After that I used ISO to clean the remaining gooey. Every step I slowly swirled it around. Did this once a week. Okay this worked fine for 3 months and then the outside cracked, not the stem part surprisingly. I guess hair fractures would appear every time you clean it like this. I tried it again and I bumped the bong on the sink and I was so done with this.
Now I use this straight bong:
I keep it stored in the fridge and I like it so much more than the marbles in the globe style. And somehow cold glass stays cleaner longer, I rarely clean it.

I’m not that surprised to be honest, some of the globes are quite thin glass
I tried it with a few fillers (different size marbles and some tumbled glass chippings you can buy for fish tanks) in my globe but the internal volume was still a bit too large for my liking, it added more cleaning and I was in constant fear of cracking the globe when I cleaned and refilled.
It has worked well with thicker pieces and for converting old style pieces for vaping, giving them a new lease of life and putting them back in the rotation.

I used glass gravel. Cleaning wasn’t that big of a deal. I poured alcohol in the bong with the gravel and swished it around and emptied through a strainer. I didn’t do marbles because they wouldn’t fit down the neck of the bong.

The advice to do dry hits or salt water hits got me thinking about what I call Pretzel Hits. Kosher salt + glass beads.
My phlegm was salty for like a week. And changing beads is more trouble than it’s worth for me.
Wow, I never heard of using salt! Because it’s so foreign to me, I used AI to learn about it. AI was contradicting itself in follow up questions, though…
The one useful nugget I got out of that was that kosher salt has a specific heat capacity roughly equal to boro glass, but it seems boro balls would be the better option to avoid sodium microparticulate matter to hit your lungs with a high dose.
So, what is the logic behind kosher salt in there? It’s hygroscopic, I know, so that means even drier air coming in to your lungs and possible/probable irritation.
