I changed a setting that enables nested replies. This will make multi-conversation threads a little easier to follow - or not depending on what you’re used to
as always - feedback welcome and encouraged
Feels reddit-y off the bat but I do like the idea of organizing replies so the conversation is easier to follow without extra steps. The GUI looks a little different too with the framing around posts within a topic.
One other thing is the ability to quick-scroll posts is changed or gone because the post numbers don’t show up at the bottom right anymore.

I have just noticed the change on a reply and it’s a worthy upgrade to the user experience! The previous model was cumbersome and seemed disjointed. I applaud the change

I prefer it this new way as much easier to follow conversations now.

EDIT – I changed my mind. All you need to do is look at this thread then look at the other threads and you can see this is a mess compared to the other threads that are not nested.
Maybe the option to let people chose in account preferences could be set up?

Right now it is defaulting to sort by old and is adding extra steps to just see the latest posts.
Personally, I am not a fan of this view and it is already giving me the same problems I left Reddit for.
I have to scroll to the bottom like 20x to get to the new flaske posts. Dislike alot

If you weren’t aware, originally there would be a down arrow at the bottom left of a post that you could tap/click to expand and see all the direct replies.
That is so much cleaner than this so far. The big threads are difficult.
Edit: it was updated to sort by new by default which improves the experience significantly
right now its set to show the newest posts on top if you’ve visited the thread before - is that better?
it was originally set to new but i changed it to old to match the previous arrangement. i set it back to new now to show the newest posts on top

Appreciated! Hopefully that helps but it really does feel similar to reddit which is good for short attention spans but not for long conversations.
It’s weird for me right now but might be a caching issue. Some posts show the new format some show the old.

On my screen there’s text sitting on top of text and the whole thing is hard to read.

i also have a setting in the thread menu that allows me to disable/enable nested replies per thread, but I’m not sure if its just for me or if its for everyone
i checked it out for you, i think that was caused by an old notification banner - is it better now?
I don’t see anything for it so it might just be your privilege level.

Personally as a fan of old-school message boards and not really of Reddit, I preferred how it was before. I don’t feel too strongly one way or the other though!

Its better with the sorting, but I still feel like Im rereading alot of older posts to get to the new ones, before I just saw all the new posts since last time I was here. I really liked that setting if its possible to have it as a toggle or something.

So now it seems we have to scroll through the entire thread to get to unread replies? And the avatar/icon box covers the text all the time? Or is that just me and my iPad (desktop view in Safari browser, OS fully updated)?
Oh, wait, now it’s set to show “New” at the top. That’s really confusing.
How can I turn nesting on for my account? Nesting is soooooo much easier to follow, especially if reading a well populated tread.
