My girl passed 3 weeks ago at just 10 years of age and my heart is still raw. House is way too quiet without a bird.

This is Spud. She started hanging around the house 10 years ago when she was a little kitten. No one claimed her, so we took her in. Strictly an indoor cat.

Last month both of ours cats (15&11) passed away, only one week in between. It’s was such a hard thing to do. My wife and I are both so heartbroken. We find it difficult to been home alone now. We miss them terribly.

Thank you so much. Yes, it really hurts. Many tears were shed… even while writing this. They were her first pets. We got the big one 15 years ago when we started living together.
The house stays a lot cleaner now!

The other is my family: Birds/Dogs, at https://www.youtube.com/@vitodelvecchio Feel free to check out dozens of family videos. Today I was feeling affectionately toward my oldest son… Lovebird Francis, named after St. Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of Animals.
Francis was found at 2 years of age with a broken wing behind a dumpster, hiding from feral cats. He was given to me that night by a gal from Humane Society. He has been here for 21 years!
Last night Francis slept with me. He will stay snuggled up in my hand, fist or neck, and remain the entire night. Fact is he will stay attached to me all day if I let him. The only reason I don’t is bird shit on my shirts!
One time I had been drinking and was doing laundry out in my back yard. As I stumbled around the Machine, I realized that it was dark out and that Francis had been on my shoulder the entire time. I gingerly inched toward the door with my heart beating. All was OK, he chooses to stay with me. Here is this mornings Francis spot.

We rescued Daisy from an abusive home, where she was chained to a dresser for up to 15 hrs daily made to lay in her own excriment. As well as physically abused and starved by the asshole. When we arrived and the very pregnant woman brought her out, (at almost midnight while the asshole was at work.) Daisy leaned all she had against my legs. Fur completely matted with dried urine and feces. Her paws packed full of excriment. I can still remember how she smelled to this day. I couldn’t stand it, and we weren’t leaving her there. So, I paid the asshole’s girlfriend the $100 ransom and we brought her home and took her to the emergency vet hospital. The vet wasn’t sure she would survive. She was 37 lbs when we took her in, had infection throughout her entire body. Didn’t seem to have much will to continue. Fast foreword…Today she is 68lbs, healthy, happy, and spoiled completely rotten. She is the most gentle and loving dog. 
I am thankful we found her in time.
Blue… I believe he was dumped from a moving car and just showed up on my doorstep. Paw pads were skun raw, shoulder was skun raw, stomach covered in fresh circular burns to which I associated to be cigarette size. Also abused, he suffered a brain injury(tests given by the vet confirmed this.) He would drop to floor shaking and crying then urinating on himself. When he arrived at my door he was 39 lbs of scared and mentally scarred mess. Now he is 56 lbs of pure muscle, energy, and love lol. Though the injuries cause him daily struggles, he is healthy and has become my shadow. Never leaves me out of his sight. We weren’t sure if we could keep him at first, but due to the brain injury he has mannerisms most would misconstrue as aggressive. So we decided it would be best for him to stay with us. He is fierce and the most loyal dog I have ever had the pleasure to rehab. He alerts when my c.p.t.s.d. triggers with 0 training. Puts his paw on me/ buries his face in my beard and chest etc.
I couldn’t have asked for a better little pal!
They both have made a wonderful recovery though not an easy one. We have had Daisy 5yrs and Blue 3 yrs now.

Loosie belonged to a friend that went into the hospital after a heart attack. They kept him alive for 6 months, and I brought her to see him every day. He passed away in March of this year. I have given Loosie to a family that loves her well and takes great care of her.
