Portable concentrates? Ghost or pivot or proxy core? What fits my use case?

Alright team,

I’m considering experimenting with concentrates.

I’m looking at the ghost 2 and the pivot, or maybe the proxy core.

I am leaning towards the pivot because of the extra chambers that you can, allegedly, pre-load, before heading out. I think that is important, and tell me if I am wrong, because when I’m at the neighbors’ house, I can quickly swap out the spent chambers for a new one. I think, and this could be wrong, that in that use case I could clean everything when I get home or next day.

That seems easier than something like the ghost or proxy, where I would have to sneak to the bathroom, load a dab, use it outside, and then clean it in the bathroom or somewhere out of site (kids). It would be in my pocket too. Jeans pocket…

I think, from what I have read, the proxy is a better device than both, and in a different category all together.

Would the pivot be a better fit for my use? Are the proxy and ghost better devices so go with them because they are superior devices? Can you pre-load the ghost and proxy core? The marketing videos make it look like you can preload the ghost.

Cost isn’t an issue for me at these price points. Something like a switch is more than I want to spend right now.

Also, what I love about my Toad and Firewood 9 are that I can load them, heat them, take a toke or two, put them back in my pocket, and take another toke or two later on until they are fully spent. Can these devices do that or do you have to use the concentrates in one shot and not heat again?

Sorry, there is a lot here about general use for concentrates as well as device questions.

Thank you in advance for your time and thoughts.

you could turn the pivot off after a puff or two and reheat.. wouldn’t recommend it but you could do it i guess

think i got my pivot from a FC link and want to say it was around $70… don’t sleep on the yocan pocket thinger too

I have a pivot, a proxy, and a peak pro, all I use is the peak pro, the proxy only does small dabs not very good density, the pivot works better but is a tiny chamber. If you need to do on the go I’d choose the pivot, but I just use my peak pro all the time.

Not owning any if those but a Pivot i do have two and it’s my favorite concentrate device that i own and should fit with most on-the-go use cases. I also want to point out that you will make a mess if you just swap after you’re done to a new oven without swabbing. Any leftover oil runs like water and will get into and leak out of the mouthpiece depending on how much is left (larger dabs leave more). 100% need to swab after use still or keep the oven upright until it’s fully cooled.

For me the Pivot works great. I haven’t tried the others yet. I would swab on the go and reload but man ya got to keep those concentrates cool either way. So just throw a few extra swabs into your cooler and you be stoked.
And Load a slurper when ya get home.

I own a Pivot and a Ghost 2. I like(d) the vapor output on the Pivot, the aftermarket glass options, and the WPA option that’s available for it too - but I feel like the temps are all too dang hot. I only ran it natively using the secret/easter-egg low low temp setting. The Ghost 2 has much better temp settings IMO, has a very on–the-go-friendly form factor, and doesn’t have (at least as much) silicone in the vapor path. Also, another good portable concentrate option to possibly look into is the Evolv Cricket - which also excels on tiny amounts, so this could sort of offer that one hit at a time option you mention. But it’s pricey.

Did you ever try running calibration on your ovens? Click 6 times quickly and it flashes a few times and vibrates to confirm it’s recalibrated. That may help especially if you swap ovens (I do it every time i change, just only do it at room temp). Also I use the 3dmax chamber from Puffcoil repair which voozr also sells now the former is gone.

Swabbing on the go is pretty easy on all these it takes maybe ten seconds. I like the Pivot more than the Ghost 2 but battery life’s not great. I’d go for a Core.

I never quite understood the Pivot atomizer swappers, it seems like a lot to carry and manage.
I’d rather carry qtips, a dab tool, and a jar than oil-filled atomizers.

Lately i’ve been loving the Proxy Core, I think it hits better than the pivot.

None of these e-devices deliver dabs like a slurper, but they’ve come a long way.

Does the proxy core moutpiece provide any cooling? I had to stop using the pivot because the hits were too hot for me.

very little cooling!

I have to hit these smaller dab devices differently than I normally hit vapes, smaller sequential puffs with little gaps in between helps prevent the mouthpiece and vapor from getting rocket hot

I make small water tops for pivot, probably cools it down some.

My typical use for the Ghost2 is more like a 510 cart replacement, rather than one heat and swab out.

We both took ours out Thursday night. You can load a nice size dab. I keep it on purple, heat it, take small rip or two, turn it off and back in the pocket.

This, alcohol, and live music lead to a really fun time.

It’s easy to slide in my jeans or pocket.

I also really like the Core. It’s a bit less inconspicuous though, but hits well and it’s modular.

I use flower more than I dab, so while I have the Switch 2 and the Go, they can definitely handle bigger globs / rips.

My concentrate tolerance doesn’t need that every hit though.

If you want to kill a huge dab on one rip, the Ghost2 falls short here. However, if you treat it like its name, it’s a nice little stealthy device.

There’s also the Voozer P2A/B which is a better pivot chamber from what I understand and cheaper than the pivot.

Does it not get dirty with the heated oil running around like water? That was my problem trying to do something similar with both the Pivot and Pocket but both got messy because they won’t stay upright in the pocket.

I haven’t had too much of an issue. I just keep it upright, typically in my jeans pocket and my fat thigh keeps it in place. I’ll peek into the atomizer to see what I have left, make sure it’s not scorching but it never really goes sideways or upside down.

It doesn’t take too long for whatever’s left behind to cool enough to not be a problem.

I don’t have a Pivot but a Voozer P2 and I can’t keep the mouthpiece on it pocket secure enough.

yeah never had any spill issus with pivot.. load it/hit it a few times/clean it… it’s a smallish device for smallish loads… sure you can overload and make a mess.. just don’t do that

Oh for sure. I tried twice to put it straight in my pocket and the first time i tried to use it as on demand to spread it over two or three micro sessions while the second time warmth of my leg melted the dab making a mess.

That was the first few weeks of getting it when it was released and I only transport in a case now. The device plus multiple ovens and qtips actually fit great in an Oakley hard glasses case btw.
