back in 2010 my life goals were to be a professional bbq pitmaster and travel the country competing
I wanted to only use old colorful weber grills for my cooks and I set out searching craigslist for non-black weber grills.
Some guy contacted me with a baby blue weber and no one on the internet had seen one like it, even the people working at Weber.
Weber had lost all their history because of fires and HQ moves over the decades, so myself and the bbq community set out to research their history and figure it out. We spent years scavenging old catalogs and advertisements to piece together the history of weber grills.
A few years ago, Weber even launched a Collector series and re-released that same baby blue color that started it all.
Now old webers are considered collectible and highly sought after.
As a fellow Weber enthusiast, that’s impressive information!
The founders story is pretty cool too! What to do with old ocean buoy? Cut it in half and make a charcoal grill! Ya that’s the ticket! I’m sure the real background is more detailed than that.
People prattle on about gas grills but to me nothing beats a Webber charcoal grill.
In the 50s the most common backyard bbq was a lidless charcoal grill
Weber founder, George Stephens, was working at Weber Bros Metal Works in chicago where they made buoys.
He cut one in half and made his own grill with a lid to keep the flames and flare-ups controlled. Soon his neighbors and friends and family all wanted one.
A few years later he pitched the idea to Weber Bros and began making grills during off hours. Eventually the grills became more popular than the rest of the metal works and Weber Stephens was born.
Not a guitar player as such but I am in the process of modifying this SG copy so I can make all the noise myself
Also teaching myself how to poke hot glass and make some vape ideas I have
I cant stand and hold the guitar for particularly long and I can’t strum much nowadays due to some physical stuff so this guitar setup lets me sit down on a chair and play with my fingers so I don’t need to waggle my arm about as much but I can still make a ton of noise to get all my arrrggghhhhhhh out when I need to.
Wow, you guys have some really great hobbies! I just enjoy crafting things out of titanium, just for myself, and I don’t sell anything. (Sorry for my bad English.)
