I’ve been vaping for quite a while, but by the time I started vaping had evolved to the Mighty+, which was my first decent vape. Some of you (many of you?) have been vaping a LOT longer than me. I have seen a lot of the older vapes on videos like T&J and TTB, but what was the first device meant to vaporize flower? I know hookahs have been around, but I was always told not to inhale the shisha so not great for cannabis, and in the early 70’s we actually were lighting the pot in the hookah to combust.
Some where back in the early days someone came up with some device to consume cannabis without combustion.
My 1st vape was the Mighty OG & I still use it & I still love it..it’s got that smooth, signature hit..this was an incredible 1st vape & a great out & about device due to its ruggedness.. im glad to have it in the lineup..
I got a Vapor Bros back in 2011! I was particularly impressed with the build quality, and I remember it working pretty well as a session style vape with fairly low key hits.
I then spent the next few years trying to find a portable I liked as much with little luck.
I started my DHV journey in 2013! Back in these early days, portable battery operated vapes were few and far between! Choices available on the market could fit in one hand!
I started with the OG Pax! It was a pos! It required lubrication(propylene Glycol)in order to function correctly. Proprietary battery & charging system didn’t help things. Became dirty & grungy very quickly, wasn’t hard to clean just tedious.
Telling someone today about it and the thing people have trouble wrapping their heads around was the need to lubricate the device. It’s crazy in retrospect but that was the nature of the beast. Glad I stuck out DHV cuz today’s options are more plentiful and operationally more effective and potent!
My vape history started in 2020. Late to the game for sure after years of combustion. The first vape I had was a XMax v2 pro. This was right before I discovered the Think Dank show with Troy & Jerry. Been watching ever since. I personally loved the v2 Pro. If only because that very first pull was so flavorful it was an epiphany level event for me. It was a solid device for me with a few things I wasn’t a fan of but it cooked a bowl very well and still does. I was hooked. My first vape ritual on that one was run a first session on the mid level 372 then bump it up to top temp after a stir and run most of a second session. Then it was on to the V3 Pro which hooked me further. Now there is a plethora to choose from in the collection. My personal advice would be think about your consumption style, do a little research if possible and get the best device you can afford for that style whether it be a convection, conduction or hybrid. It’s like buying a guitar. You want one that plays like butter because then you never want to put it down. Happy DHV hunting
The mouthpiece moved up and down into the unit with a simple push from your finger or thumb. You “greased” this area with PG and this kept the function smooth. The problem was this needed done fairly frequently, because as the PG dried out it became harder to open & close properly.
some people had theirs lock up due to not using PG regularly. So your unit was not “broken” or ruined by this but just hard to use. I had a little squeeze bottle and kept mine lubed up. PG was food grade & safe but it was a maintenance headache! No vape since, including subsequent pax models needed this only the OG Pax!
First vape was a BC vaporizer globe . It was a wooden unit with just an on/off switch with a whip. The heater was just a copper stand which jetted from the top of the wood bas that heated up and was surrounded with a mason jar/ globe deal. It was so bad. You had to wait like 5 minutes just to get a smidgen of vapor. Actually wish I still had it. Had it at my mom’s place before I moved out at 16. So it’s lost to time. Not sure but this was definitely around 2001/02
Magic Flight Box, 11 years ago during our honeymoon week. Not the best experience to be honest. Bought a Arizer Xtreme Q soon after that, loved it. We’ve used that thing for at least 7 years before buying more vaporizers.
Volcano digital for me which I haven’t used in 10 years, and didn’t understand how to get the best out of at the time… I would just go for max temp since i was combusting back then. I need to get it out of storage and don’t know what box it’s in
I almost gave up on this whole scene after getting a substandard pen having no knowledge of carts, oils, and then gave it one last shot with a Davinci micqro and that is when I found HERE. Went online for an all inclusive rundown on this vape, and found a vid of Troy talking about it being possessed with Satan’s Hole. From the wisdom of 420vapezone I then found a healthy rips fury edge, trained myself on Dynavap, and got diagnosed w/ VAS.
