I got my first vape in September 2023. It was the XVAPE Avant and a total piece of crap. If it wasn’t for me stumbling across Troy and Jerry, I would have gone back to combustion.

Oh man, I totally had one of these!! I only used it a few times though cos I didn’t like it much and I already had a VaporGenie at the time which worked better.
The first vape I ever _used_ was a digi Volcano in Barney’s in Amsterdam, I believe in late 2010, and then early 2011 I bought the VG for my first one. Unfortunately once I got onto joints it took a long time and a complete break from weed altogether to make my way back to vaping.

Got my Volcano back in 06 after some research
But prior to the 'Cano I remember buying a device that looked like a soldering iron with a stainless steel cap that if you drew on it too hard would combust the material
Housed in something that looked like a f!ower pot with a glass dome

@lazybones - we had similar in the 70’s, except I was a science geek and used lab glass, but it never occurred to me to put flower in it, and we combusted that puppy, there were times it glowed.
@Stu - I’ve never heard of that one (Shake ‘n’ Vape), what was it like?
@Glasspath - do you remember what that one was called? The soldering iron with the steel cap one?
I’m just curious, seeing the evolution of vapes over the relatively short time I knew about them, just where did people first start vaporizing and what device did they use, then the first electric, etc. The ones that started things. First full convection, first hybrid, etc.

Going way back here to when I first started vaporizing.
Always smoked before then but cannot tolerate it anymore!
My very first vape was discovered courtesy of @Vitolo way back…
I cannot recall the year but it is over 10 years ago!
The vaporizer was the Vapir NO2!

Since then I have moved onto vapes that are mainly convection and have never looked back!
Now sitting on my desk is my Supreme V4, @invertedisdead GoPhase 3 ZX and Z8 and my Taffee Bowle 2. Convection heavies!!
I have tried a lot of vapes and own way too many…
I love bringing the old and discontinued ones out every now and then!

I never owned one, but it was basically a crack pipe. It came out in 1994. Eagle Bill would also go around demonstrating a big-ass glass chamber that he would fill with vapor by using a heat gun iirc.

No idea what it was called, was a while ago
Can’t remember if I bought it at a head shop or through high times or another publication.
It worked but the line between vapor and combustion was very thin.
The Volcano came on the scene a couple of years later and I stayed with that until a medical issue with A family member turned me to the forums where I discovered decarb, extraction and infusion and concentrates in general
For my concentrate journey I started with crumble on a wax pad in my Volcano.
Worked but…
Tried a Ditanium, combustion could be an issue if you over filled the wand but the flower and concentrate hits together were knee benders.
From there it was a natural step to a ball vape
Started with the B-2 and eventually got the B-1 and B-0
Then the wireless units came out
Now with the new quartz injectors you can have an all quartz and glass path
Edit: what about the hot knife days?

I don’t know the FIRST vape by mine was the Magic Flight Launch Box in 2010
A pain to use and keep charged batteries but served it’s purpose of getting me off combustion and being much more discreet also.
My next vape was the beginning
of my VAS. The Vapium Summit. Good little vape with a heater that could be better but the idea of such a portable really got me on my way with portable vaporizers.

I still have my original NO2 from 2010.
It still works, but I rarely use it.
The reason for that, is that I sit next to my very first vape which is
always on. It has been plugged in and turned on since 2010.
I have dozens of SSV and NO2 videos on my channel.
These 2 vapes were bought during the same week, but the SSV
Was 1st, and while I have many vapes here, it is still the SSV that I grab.
The tube while stained is clean and odorless. I clean it every time I clean the wand, using Iso, then hot water and dish soap before vacuuming it dry.
Edit: I tried something just like this, but it had a rounder dome. That was back in like 1972 or so, but I continued smoking for the next years until my enlightenment.

It all started with a Flowermate in 2014 or 2015. A cheap but a awfull experience. Felt more Like thumb sucking than vaping.
In 2016 S&Bs Crafty came and V.A.S kicked in 😅

According to me, it was the CHALICE from jamaïcan rasta culture !

In my case the same device is true for both. Not many people were vaping in this region 15+ years ago, but a friend had one and I bought mine after trying theirs.

@Flow I love that it’s called a “Chalice”! That seems so appropriate, considering the little I know of the Rasta culture.;
From the Wiki though, it wasn’t a vape, it was a water pipe for combustion.
This brings up a question though, since cannabis is part of the Rasta religion, are they even allowed to use vapes or even edibles? Or does the religion specify smoked? Every video I’ve seen they are smoking.

The ital steam chalice is a vape, but there’s combustion from the heat source. Which is originally coconut charcoal (activated carbon)
