Are All Terp Pearls Created Equal?

I’ve been using terp pearls for quite a while now, but it dawned on me that I don’t actually know much about them.

What are most terp pearls made from? Are they all basically the same, or are some materials actually better than others?

I’ve seen quartz, ruby, sapphire, SiC, ceramic, and probably a few others. Is there a real-world difference in heat retention, flavour, durability, or are we mostly paying for fancy colours and marketing?

For those of you who’ve tried different materials:

Which do you prefer and why?

Have you noticed any difference in flavour or vapour production?

Is there a material you’d avoid?

Curious to hear everyone’s experiences because I realized I’ve been using them for years without ever questioning what was actually spinning around in my banger and E-rigs.

The ONLY time I ever use pearls is if I am doing a dab in addition to my flower using the Electropath with Flower Kettle. I have never used them with anything else. They are not my choice as I can drop things, but can rarely find them!

I used a 3mm ruby in my OG Proxy. I have no idea what it was actually made of, but it increased vapor production by a lot!
