What do you think the average age and gender is for people who primarily use dry herb vaporizers instead of combusting?
I’m not trying to stereotype anyone or make this about demographics as I know everyone is different. I’m just genuinely curious if there seems to be a trend.
For example, are dry herb vapes more popular with older cannabis users who are looking for a healthier or more efficient way to consume? Or are younger users adopting them just as much? And does it seem to lean more toward men, women, or is it pretty evenly split?
I know none of us have actual data, so I’m just looking for your observations and experiences. It would be interesting to hear what everyone has noticed over the years.
Ya that’s definitely interesting?! I’ll Be 40 this this year and just got back into DHV a couple months ago and converted some friends and family from combustion. Some younger than me and some around same age or a few years older than me. So for me it almost a 50/50 split.
That’s a difficult question. Vapes attract ex-smokers and people starting to think about their health,so definitely older people but also a healthier younger generation. Me too, 50/50
I’d expect that the average vaper is a male and in his late 30s or older, due to the health rationale you mentioned, as well as usually because people in that demographic have more disposable income and the hobby can come cheap but usually doesn’t. And male just because due to whatever reason men on average are more interested in gadgetry than women. FYI, I’m male and 39.
Yes, this is pretty much sums up why I got into using them and probably around the same age in my 30s when I started. Combustion was affecting my cardio and I like to keep very active so that’s what lead me down the DHV path. I’m going on around 15 years now using DHVs and it was a struggle early on keeping away from combustion but nowadays that is not an issue with the powerful devices we can get our hands on and I’m very thankful for that.
Most of my friends primarily drink alcohol, which I have cut back on considerably throughout the years and they use cannabis infrequently, and anytime I have got them to use one of my vapes they get completely rocked and now they’re scared to even touch them haha.
One of my buddies took my Venty which was set at 210°C and ripped it for as long and as hard as he possibly could, and I have never seen him so wrecked in my life … this was a couple years ago and he still brings it up often haha
Yes same here lol. Venty at 410 is a lot for most of us hahaha. I also have stopped drinking not completely but compared to what it was it’s a big difference since I pick up DHV again. Would Rather DO WEED! Haha @stickstones. But a cocktail once in a blue moon on a special occasion is where I’m at now.
I bought my first DHV in 1995/6 when I was still a young’en. But I was always a big hitter, so it wasn’t till the Quartz Cap that I viewed vaping as viable.
But kids are coming up on these weak pens and carts. Technically probably more kids vape than adults, just not DHVs. But the pen kids should be able to move DHVs a bit easier.
Wife and I are both mid 60’s, and have been vaping exclusively for 5 years. We didn’t even know what a DHV was 5 years ago, and to this day I don’t know anyone else that vapes.
Yeah I turned 40 this year, male. After smoking a lot in my early 20s to not smoking very much at all, I started smoking a joint a few nights a week at night last summer. Well it started getting cold out in the fall and I had a bunch of flower left over and didn’t want to combust inside the house so I tried vaping. First I dusted off my old NO2 but it tastes like plastic so I got a Vaphit and a torch and have collected a few more glass vapes since then. I really appreciate the reduction in smoke tar and personal skunky weed odor with vaping.
It’s hard to get a read on the DHV demographic because I feel it’s still a very niche subgroup of weed consumption. I remember starting a topic on the old FC forum where the question was “Have you ever met anyone with more vapes than yourself?”
The funny response was that hardly anyone on the forum had ever even encountered another person who vapes, let alone someone who has more vapes. In these days where everyone has easy electronic access to some sort of social platform, I find it amazing that more people aren’t aware of DHV.
I think the demographic for getting into DHV was the same as the demographic for serial killers. It’s changed a little bit but not much. I believe the price of the plant now days keeps many from being interested in trying anything new. Fifteen years ago many of up got into it to save money, then the other benefits became way more important. If cigarettes would have been $2 a pack the e-cig thing would have never taken off like it did.
I totally agree and understand what you’re saying! I’ve had the same experiences. I don’t know anyone else who vapes, and they all look at me strangely when I mention ball vapes, and ask if anyone has ever heard of one.
Even when I go to the dispensaries none of the people working there know anything about them… I guess the bigger question is what is the percentage of people who vape versus combust? Have we cracked 5% yet?
I don´t have a lot of people around me that use cannabis frequently, but i noticed that DHVs became quite normal I see them everywhere. Especially since the decriminalization here in Germany lots of people use them, i guess mostly age 30+
II know only 2 men who have a vaporizer, but they don’t use it all the time. It’s more a party thing. I had several people in my home who tested my vaporizers, they liked it a lot. Until they hear the prices for a good one their enthusiasm fade quickly.
I know only just one other guy (40yo) who vapes but he’s no hobbyist, just has one cheap vape he seems happy with and that’t great but not somebody I can really indulge in this hobby with.
Maybe once legalized cannabis culture develops a bit more here in southern Germany it’ll get more widespread. Certainly would appreciate it.
Whre in Germany do yo live? Don’t think I’ve ever seen somebody using a DHV, at least none I recognized. Might be different in bigger cities of course.
My herb doc recommended DHV first thing. Of course I had no idea. I’d lost 40 lbs and was incredibly sick. My dispo is 20/80% sick old dude to hipster ratio. Frequently employees know what DHV is. One guy one time had a Lobo. I probably have the only Frolic in the county.
