Dr. Dabber Switch 2

Quick summary: The Switch 2 is a second-generation portable induction e-rig for concentrates. The headline additions over the original Switch are an integrated IR sensor for temperature feedback, three dynamic heating profiles, a 300% larger insert, and Bluetooth app control.

Dr. Dabber is a US-based vaporizer company founded in 2013 in Florida, originally operating out of a garage. The company relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2016. They released the original Switch in 2016.

Manufacturer’s claims:

  • Heating: Induction
  • First e-rig with integrated IR sensor for temperature control
  • Three dynamic heating profiles: Descent (temperature decreases through the cycle, mimicking torch dab behavior), Ascent (temperature increases through the cycle, for cold-start style), Steady (fixed temperature throughout)
  • Insert volume: 300% larger than original Switch (20mm quartz insert)
  • Up to 30 heating cycles per charge
  • Pass-through charging supported

Confirmed specs:

  • Form factor: Desktop e-rig; concentrates only
  • Temperature range: 250°F–650°F / 121°C–343°C
  • Heat-up: 5–30 seconds (temperature dependent)
  • Charging: USB-C; pass-through charging supported
  • Charge time: 60–90 minutes
  • Height: 9 in / 22.9 cm
  • Width: 4 in / 10.2 cm
  • Weight: 25.6 oz / 726g
  • App: Bluetooth; iOS and Android; temperature control, hold times, lighting, heating profile customization
  • Price: $420 USD
  • Warranty: 2 years (battery, charger, and electrical components)

What’s in the box:

  • 1 Switch 2 device (with glass bubbler and carb cap installed)
  • 1 20mm Quartz Insert
  • 1 Dr. Dabber Drop (heated loading tool)
  • 1 USB-C charging cable
  • 1 Tweezers
  • Instructions via QR code only (no printed manual)

Compatibility:

  • Insert options: 20mm Quartz (included); Sapphire Plus (sold separately); Titanium (sold separately)
  • Original Switch inserts are not compatible with the Switch 2

Where to buy:

Questions and things to find out over time:

  • How does Descent mode compare to actual torch dabbing in practice for terpene expression?
  • Long-term durability of the quartz insert vs. sapphire at high temps
  • Does the 30-cycle battery claim hold at higher temperature settings?
  • App stability and real-world usability across iOS and Android
  • How does it compare to the Puffco Peak Pro in extraction quality and ease of use?

saw there i guess is a smaller switch 2 looking thing coming soon? is there an upcoming vape section here yet, i recall FC had upcoming vapes and then once they came out they would get moved etc.. that the plan here too?

I don’t think we’ve decided on that yet. For now they will go in the main sections, but we may adjust later…

Ordered my Switch 2 on 4/20 from Dr D and I think it’s going to take a while to ship. I’ve seen a few places selling glass and dishes, but wanted to see if anyone here has anything they are enjoying.

I got a calibear straight fab top that doesn’t splash so you can pull harder! Plus it feels like thicker glass! Then I find it a must to upgrade the cap for more airflow! I use a 30mm ball spinner cap I found online, but cloud vortex has cool metal spinner caps that look like they wouldn’t break like glass and might magnetize to the Chamber!

I do have the upgrade Sapphire Dish and ruby terp pearl! Terp pearl is a preference I like a lot and is cheap! The Dish is expensive but I can’t tell a difference! Maybe not worth the price but it’s my daily so it’s worth it to me!

This one? How’s the function?

There were a couple Calibear offerings that I Iiked. Function has been a concern in the past for some import glass, maybe a little less with CCG/CB than others.

I liked these, but haven’t decided yet:

Either simple or silly seems to be my taste. I don’t want to admit how long the function videos were playing in the background. Certainly not long enough to, at low volume, make me think my headphones were crapping out.

3 posts were split to a new topic: (upcoming) Dr Dabber Switch Mini (yet to be named)

I cleaned my stock dish with the blazer torch and it was fine, but when I did the original sapphire it broke… I know not to do that with my new sapphire bucket!

Does anyone need a glass whip for the switch 2?

That’s sick! Where can I get one?

Update on this! I got another sapphire dish and they are fire btw, but I got it really dirty and crusty brown! So I did research and found that if you put the sapphire dish into a larger quartz bucket like ~30mm you can slowly heat the bucket and it will eventually get the sapphire dish hot enough to melt off pretty much all the imperfections!! I just put it on my rig and moved the heat around and let it rest at times to slowly heat it up, but you may can go faster! Then leave it on the rig to cool and like that it’s new!

Sapphire has more “Thermal Vulnerability” than quartz thus needing to be heated and cooled slower. Quick AI research shows a “thermal shock” from the sapphire heating up 25x faster than quartz causing the outside to heat and expand faster than the inside surface! That is what causes it to break!!
