Firewood or Firewood Aroma Tech releases a new model every year or so, but with the steady model to model variations it seemed better to have a topic covering all models. The Specifications are from the current model, the Firewood 11.
Firewood is an artisan vape with an all wood appearance. New models have so far always been cosmetic changes, but some updates also include tech changes. As an artisan vape it’s not as smooth and simple in operation as many more popular mass produced vapes. The lack of a display mean that temperature adjustment and setting are done by multiple button presses and counting vibrations, which is kind of a pain and requires me to keep a copy of the manual handy. Fortunately, once it’s set up, day to day operation is much simpler.
The recent Frolics have a sensitivity to overcharged batteries, and some external chargers will not work with the Firewood because of a slight overcharge. Due to this and potentially other issues it’s recommended to charge the 18650 in the device.
The current models are easily capable of one hit extraction or gentle hits, but it is an on demand only device. I have the FATx and FW9, the two predecessors to the current FW11.
My experience with the FATx and FW9 is that there were significant improvements in the heating of the device between them. The FATx and FW11 use the same heater and oven so should be similar. I get good battery life for a device that hits as hard as this does. Being artisan, they can be a bit quirky, and some device to device variability is to be expected.
There are occasional “special drops” when he finds an especially decorative piece of wood, but they are random and hard to catch.
The big change in the FW11 appears to be elimination of the herb compartment (I was sad to see it go, but I think I was one of few) and a new stem arrangement that allows for easier bong operation.
