What’s your favorite hot knife and why?
I like the following over my OG Puffco hot knife as they are cheap and don’t feel like they are ready to break like the flimsy Puffco whenever I use it, that said Puffco have released a new version that they say is a lot more robust feeling. I personally use a little Yocan Kodo Pro with an Ooze 510 thread attachment. It’s incredibly compact and is the cleanest at dropping dabs in my experience!

dr dabber drop has been my favorite
i like the light on the focus saber, but the fresh press mode and simple operation of the dr dabber has won me over. magnetic cap helps a lot

I use this one atm. Its branded by graveda, but there’s other brandings too. I like the sharp edge on the tip, so the dab has kind of a drip tip. With smaller dabs it’s easier to drop them off, compared to even tips. Also build in light and the ir thermometer is pretty accurate.

The Saber is my favorite and what I’ve bought as gifts for others as well. It’s big compared to the others, but ergonomic with a grippy texture and the light at night or low-light situations is clutch. The battery lasts forever between charges as well… I get hundreds of uses per charge.
Plus it has the replaceable tips which arent crazy priced (I’m stillon the first tip over a year after purchasing though).
I’ve tried the 510 tips and they work fine, but the thicker base for the 510 screw makes those get a bit dirty requiring more cleanup than my puffco hotknife or saber.

I have a little 510 stick battery with the hot knife attachment that cost a whole like $10 and its worked great for over a year now. If I were to buy a better one it would probably be the Saber, I like that it has replaceable tips.

I used to have a basic Crossing hot knife but one day I put too much pressure on the tip at an angle and it stopped heating up.
I guess necessity is really the mother of invention because I grabbed a regular rounded stainless table knife, scooped up some rosin on the tip and then stuck it through my Wand while holding it over my bowl. A few flashes of the Wand and the glob slid right off. It’s been my MacGyver hot knife hack ever since. 
I guess any little metal tool that’s inducts well could work.

You can get cheap tips usually with options for the diameter to match your battery, 9mm, 11mm, 14.5mm to name a few…and with lights in the end but they are twice the price

Big fan of the Focus V Saber. Hardly ever needs a recharge and melts it away smoothly without much loss. The LED light is a great feature.
Just got the Drop and will run it for a bit. I hate those amazingly loud clicks already.

Bear quartz trio 2.0. Has replaceable tips, flashlight on the front with IR and laser on the back.
I have a trio 1.0 but found the multiple clicks to navigate the menu yo be clunky for switching between measuring with IR and melting the dab off. The 2.0 is just 5 clicks to unlock and the IR is always reading when unlocked. You do have to 2 click or 3 click to turn on the flashlight or laser respectively, but I’m not using those 90% of the time.
I’ve had a saber, puffco hot knife, some DHgate 510 ones and just got a dr dabber drop. The trio 2.0 is by far my favorite, with the second being the drop.
The drop is nice for simplicity and having a low temp melt setting.

The Carta one because it came with my Carta 2. Never saw a need to try another one.
