Sharing with you our tech for SMART VAPE and authentication

Hi everyone, my name is Steven. I am with an US company called MoodLab.

We have the solution to make any vape smart by bringing bluetooth based tech and providing solutions for authentication, smart control, usage analysis etc. https://mood-lab-team-preview.vercel.app/

We have been working with an US Cannabis Vape brand called Cali Clear, and helped them develop 3 smart devices. You can check them out here: https://caliclearextracts.com/

We are open for feedback, suggestions, discussions etc. Do you think smart vape is a good idea?

Ons link doesn’t work on iPad, the bottom of the age requirement is cut off so can’t hit what is on the bottom.

It looks like this is all carts and disposables. This site focuses on dry herb vapes, none of which were even mentioned on those pages I could see, which is bad look when trying to plug your company.

try rotating your ipad to Portrait, tap the button, then rotate back to landscape. Still, something like that should be fixed.

As for the “smart vape”, I don’t see the advantage, but I do see the downside if the controls are all on the phone. I imagine no one wants to have to take their phone out to change a setting on the vape.

Are they planning on a making any Dry Herb Vapes?

Hi Steven,

as an electronic engineer you lost me at “ai-powerd Firmware”.

I don’t see the how it is supposed to solve the real word problem of fake carts. Its just one more company in the chain I have to pay and trust. But to be fair I am not the targeted customer since i wouldn’t buy vapecartridges anyways.

To me smart devices in general are just an annoying security risk, as soon as you connect them to your network since they usually don’t receive updates.

Also as someone that had to live under prohibition until recently, I am not willing to share my consumption patterns with a company. But maybe that’s just me.

So to answer your question, I don’t think smart vapes are a good idea.

Hi Charles,

Thanks for your feedback. Sorry for the bad experience on laptop. We definitely should improve it.

In terms of dry herb vape, thanks for reminding me what this site is about. We were focusing on the R&D for Cali Clear products until recently. Looking for opportunities for R&D and monetization of new products is actually what we plan to do next.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Noted on the dry herb vape thing.

Appreciate your reply.

The reason we were focusing on the smart device is because that is what our client - Cali Clear wanted.
We do understand that being just “smart” is not good enough to make great vape products, that is why I am trying to talk to you guys in here and trying to figure out what kind of products we should R&D next.

Hi Jonas,

Thank you so much for your honest feedback. To answer you in short, every real Cali Clear product comes with a NFC chip, the users can do the authentication real quick with the app we made.

Lame. Imagine giving up your puff data for free. You all need to remember that what most people use these vapes for is federally fucking illegal. I would never want my device keeping records like that. It should serve to heat up my product and nothing more.

Do I think smart vape is a good idea? Absolutely not!

No joke about this but maybe put a little R&D into vape stations for people who have pets. Currently looking at stainless steel banquet and buffet equipment to see what can be altered to make a station that can be easily covered up in case of zoomies

i think smart vapes could definitely have potential

but i don’t think the people investing dollars and driving the tech have enough experience to find applicable context

What would the smarts be used for, assuming that someone with enough experience is on the team? I struggle to think of many ways that my experience as the end user would be improved. The Mood Lab website describes a product authenticity seal, games based on the puff sensor (?), and puff tracking. They say the firmware is “AI powered” but what does that mean?

How smart can it be, it’s still using the old “AI”, rather than the new, and much more better SI! (super Intelligence)

I suppose it could dynamically adjust the heater to compensate for cooling while inhaling.

Temperature control? That is well handled by classical algorithms such as PID etc, but you need a temperature sensor, which carts do not have. Often limited by how much power is actually able to be delivered as well.

It probaply means that the Firmware codebase is AI generated. But i really dont see how this is supposed to improve anything for the end user.

Maybe the brand can explain us what the ai part of the firmware is good for besides the use as a marketing buzzword.

I’m not saying this is desired or financially viable, but for those wondering how a smart vape COULD help:

With current tech you should be able to set your desired cloud density and have the temperature auto correct to give that density.

Stop automatically before combustion.

Notify users when the device is getting dirty enough to affect performance.

With use and AI, power delivery could be adjusted to they individual, possibly increasing battery life.

Linking draw speed to power output.

Probably more, but are any of these really helpful?

Possibly helpful, but those metrics would require additional sensors.
