While we’re all waiting for the new powerful Induction Heater (probably from vgoodiez), I wonder what happened to the Forge. It came out with flaws, then got updated to work properly, then nothing was heard of it again. Is this thing even available? Vestratto’s apparently dead Website says it’s on preorder for well over a year now.
How’s that? Despite size and price, shouldn’t this thing be one of the most versatile IHs available? How come nobody’s talking about it? Are there any actual users, satisfied or not?
I have one and used it 10 to 20 times a day up until about 6 months ago. Mine will no longer work on the Tornado unless I remove the Wagon Wheel. My on/off button has to be pushed in a specific location for it to function. I have also found that mine is becoming more powerful, I have to keep lowering my settings to avoid combustion.
I have a forge and to me it is very versatile. It’s somewhat mobile as well, I have a stash bag the size of a dopp kit and I drop it in there with the two batteries. It gets heavy with all the other gear but, it works. I had the tornado out in the wild, fogging spots up.
I think one of the reasons no one is talking about it is the price point. Very pricey and batteries WERE NOT INCLUDED haha I grabbed it at the tornado drop. It was a bundle, maybe a couple hundo’s off if you ordered individually and it was still around $600. Then you had to find Milwaukee batteries. Found some at Home Depot on a (lucky) sale, that was another $100 (charger,large and small battery).
After fixing the issues with the forge and shipping out new ones, I guess the honeymoon phase was over with the masses. I’ve used the forge with my Simrell Ti, my Dynavap’s and of course my Vestratto products. I’m assuming it’ll work on the hydro xl.
Unfortunately for the forge, I’ve fallen back in love with the torch. Now the forge is collecting dust, still works like a champ but, the torch has grabbed my attention. I’ve just put together a Simrell micro heritage with thread protector, Dynavap helix tip, perforated cap and a stainless steel cap armor. With a double or triple torch… whew!
Maybe later I’ll play around with the new Dynavap setup and the forge. The cascade setting on the forge is very fun to play with. Makes reheats beautiful. Almost like dancing between clicks on the Dynavap with the torch.
I’m a 1st generation forge/tornado purchaser. I’ll admit, I use it sparingly now days and only with a tornado or anvil. I believe the battery and tariff things really crushed its momentum. Likely too the constant online hating has killed the desire to pursue further forge growth. Super shame as a forge/tornado combo (cascading heating) is top shelf vaporization.
