I cannot get enough of Blood Incantation’sAbsolute Elsewhere. I never got into Pink Floyd or their peers, but BI have proven to be a great take on 70s synth driven prog, albeit with an extreme metal glaze. It’s really great stuff.
If you like the synths, but don’t want any rock influence, check out their ambient album, Timewave Zero.
I really dug jazz/grindcore crossover stuff in the 90s,but it disappeared. I’ve always wanted to see someone mix reggae in with heavier stuff (think Crowbar/Down), but so far, no dice.
I also really enjoy hard house/gabba mixed with grind, like The Berzerker and Cadaver, Inc., but, again, kinda a dead genre.
Recommendation for stoner doom with an edge: Churchburn.
Going to see The HU in concert again in June, so I’ve been listening to them a lot. Klangphonics is getting a lot of play. Also, Thrillington, and The Family Way soundtrack. I’ve been obsessed with all four recently.
if any of ya’ll are phish heads.. here is a ace stream/network ID for the stream 51d2f5f7ecc0a0e96f37695a990d28f382792c4b if you have never used ace stream it’s basically like vlc media player.. download it and then copy/paste that code into Media>Open Network Stream>Network Tab>Paste the copied code from above into the area for “Please enter a network URL:” Pretty sure you can do the same using VLC but i just stick with the Ace Stream application when Phish has streams going
I mostly listen to Dub also. Check out Mad Professor, Lee Scretch Perry, and Subatomic Sound System. I just saw Mad Prof, the Bass was So Low that it nearly ripped off my toenails. Insane.
