I find measurement to be very hard. So many variables in an individual’s tolerance. For me it means a single hit whether it’s concentrate or flower. Due to edible consumption my dosing is very small when vaping. You can go from lagging effects from the edible to near green out on a few blasts from the water pipe/bong.
With that said, the above posts with their measurements are good stepping stones to figuring out your tolerance. Using those numbers and organizing your intake will keep you from dosing too much. Well worth the effort and in short time you will understand your levels and comfort zone.
Thanks to people who posted numbers!
This info helps a lot of newbies avoid the green out and possible ER visit.
.1 maybe not really into Micro dosing maybe macro dosing ![]()
For my liking it depends on the vape and how it performs with said load. For my ball vap I use the glass microdose bowl that comes with the WOHW at about .15 or so. On a few of my Dynavaps I set them to the half bowl at about .05. I will often put a smallish load of around .1+ in either my TM2 or the Frolic for a quick one or two poke sesh.
.1 can be one pretty huge hit or several smaller ones, depending on how far you take it. So I think it can be more than a microdose. I would consider the potential effect you can get from it with an efficient device. Something giving more than threshold effects but less than a full high. .1 fully extracted is enough for me to be good for a while. .05 is more micro for me. With a log or vapman or something you can go down to like .01-.02, and still get some more-than-threshold effects, that’s real micro. But it depends on your tolerance too. You can become quite sensitized if you keep going with smaller doses and take them in efficiently.
I like this perspective. A micro-dose is less than your full-effects dose and probably crosses your threshold effects level but potentially not by much or not for very long. It is personal and often device specific then and likely also situational.
Full disclosure here, I’m an expert idiot.
Always associated a micro dose with an amount you can clear in one attempt. The old rice size amount of concentrate.
I tried to micro-dose this morning, but with a dab. Mind you, I am no dab aficionado… I barely ever do anything but the occasional twax with concentrates… but holy Hanna does a morning high last and last this way. Ooph.
To me a micro dose is a dose that does not get me high the amouont depends on my tolerance.
My categories:
small dose < 10mg THC
a normal dose 10-25mg THC
and a big dose > 25mg THC
micro dose whatever my dynavap holds …and a macro dose whatever i can stuff in the shovelhead bowl
Fascinating - I don’t weigh everything I consume, but I’d consider my tolerance to be pretty similar. A little goes a long way for me and I often add CBD bud to fill out a bowl, or just just don’t vape out the whole thing.
May I ask, what device are you using that lets you vape 1/8 to 1/4 of your standard 0.05g dose?
Something like the dynavap B2 bowl is my smallest, yet still around 0.07 grams when I’ve weighed it.. If you’ve got something smaller that works well, I’d be curious!
Summarizing the thread thus far, I’m seeing 2 distinct concepts for microdose:
…and…
Both of these are interesting concepts. One about the vaping/consumption experience and the other about the effect experience. First one is a bit more fixed on tools and technique and the second turns on material and tolerance.
I try and avoid the term. I’m familiar with the term not from the cannabis space, but more from an alternate medicine space. There, a microdose is a dose small enough you get a medical benefit, but not enough to feel effects. This is also what people in the psychedelic space refer to as a microdose.
In the cannabis space I see people taking microdoses and getting high, just not as high or not as long of a high.
