I weigh loads occasionally because I want to be consistent with my dosing. My shovel head bowl is filled with .15 grams always. That’s a micro dose in my opinion. I can just cover the screen and get a wispier hit, but .15 is the perfect 1 hit full extraction for my setup.
I’ll usually do a slight pack in the Venty of .25 grams. My Freight Train Pro with a glass bowl gets .25 or more, depending on the situation. 2 hits clears that. The Moab/Mercury/Shovelhead get the most use. Wife and I go through 2+ grams a day. I won’t bring the Volcano Hybrid into this question lol.
Depends on the vape. 0.05g out of a Vaphit or one of the small quartz caps slaps pretty hard, but it doesn’t even cover the screen or vape properly in my Elev8r.
My most common daily use is a small Anvil bowl. It’s usually around .03 g. I am constantly amazed at how little of an amount I consume and still stay lit all day long.
I love this topic! It’s so personal and vape specific that there is no correct answer. But we, as a community, have debated this forever. My personal definition is the smallest amount the vaporizer can use and still produce a satisfying session. After vaporizing for almost two decades, anything less than a 10th of a gram is a microdose for me, no matter the vape. That’s a full bowl in something like the ONE or V3 pro! But I was always amazed at people who would continually get blitzed off .02 g, or anything in that vicinity. Hat’s off to you, @Knewt, .03 g will put you near legendary status!

It helps to power up my edible when the effects begin to lag
I can get a couple of hours of heavy work done without the absent minded mistakes of being baked.
My experience is that I need the straight THC for pain management during the day for physical exertion and a more rounded experience from just vaping some flower in the evening
Helps to settle all the pain I accrued from the day as the edible wears off
Anything I can hit in one extraction I class as microdose. I can clear anything from 0.07 downwards in one go usually. I usually use these size bowls for midweek evenings and maybe go to 0.1-015 for weekends
From a volume standpoint I’d consider it probably .1g or less, but I look at it from the effects side and it’s however much I need to feel the desired/required effects and be at peak mental performance still. That could be one or two draws from a full bowl or a smaller bowl packed.
I don’t really think putting a number on microdoses is appropriate since it’ll vary from strain to strain and material type (oil/hash/flower).
A microdose for me is just enough for getting just a little buzz in terms of staying fully functionable.
How much to fill in depends mainly on the Device and what daytime it is, but i would say in a Vapman this is a 0.03g Load, in a Miqro I need a full Capsule, 0.08g for comparable Results. Vapcaps may be in the .04g range.
But most of my Devices do not allow just that little load for a tasty Puff, so there i’d rather fill the oven and just inhale once at a Time.
Ok. Here goes. But note I am a chemist. I weigh almost every dose or have a good idea of the dose weight from strain and bowl size. I have a spreadsheet with strain estimates of THC and doses calculated to suit below (but I don’t really look at it much)
My standard dose (one serving) is 0.05g of 20% bud. That is 10mg of THC. Those are usually reserved for the weekend evenings and it gets me solidly high. Other times I use a 1/2 or 1/4 servings but get that by using like 10% or 5% bud often type 2 (2:1 cbd:thc if possible). In the middle of the week when I have had 1 or two days of a mini Tbreak I might have 1/8 serving after work. That is around 0.025 g of 5% bud. I feel it, but just slightly buzzed and full functionality. That and the 1/4 serving (0.05g of 5%, which would equate to 0.0125g of 20% bud) I’d consider microdoses. Whereas my 1/2 serving (0.025 of 20% bud) is for me when I’d probably want to start thinking about what I’m gonna be doing for the next 40 min or so.
I know It’s a lot, and thanks for being kind but for a chemist it’s just second nature and not stressful or anxiety provoking at all. If I can’t measure it’s fine but if the scale is right there, why not.
I find that anything less than 0.025g is too little material to give the flavor and mouth feel I’m looking for, so the lower THC strains really help me dial this in. Also, I suspect that the couple of weekly no use days and then also days of using smaller serving sizes and also maybe the type 2 flower are what make it possible for me to still blast off on the weekends from 0.05g.
