Weird. I have one from I think the first release batch, and I might get a couple pieces of flower on the screen, but a quick brush or blow on it and they go away. Looking at videos you tend to take your’s farther than I take mine, I usually get a pretty light roast on the Frolic and still no sticking. Maybe you are using higher end weed, I usually get the bargain stuff.

Anyone had their Frolic power down when using on-demand mode @ 464F?
Happened to me when I was holding the button down continuously for 2 or three quick hits (maybe 12-15 seconds). I figured I just overheated it and it must have some kind of protection built in?

@wyatt - Mine did once. I think it flashed an overheat message first, but I just caught a screen flash from the corner of eye and didn’t see the message. I turned it back on and didn’t see an overheat message in seconds of turning it back on.

Disclaimer i use this device which i love .07 15-25 inhales: on demand mode, initial temp 308F
If I do three quick hits they seem to get hotter. I attribute this to the bucket heating up as I would say they are getting more conductiony. I can control this by shortening the press time vs the inhale time. The third hit involves a much shorter inhale time. It is pretty sensitive, easy to go too long (Scorch the load) but I have that pretty well mastered. I err on short side and need a 4th inhale to be successful fairly often.
Cannabis flakes get into grooves tough to remove and on the screen. Also reclaim forms copiously under the screen. I repeat myself but I have heard the Venty is a beast to clean also.

I use mine with capsules and I am unable to combust with it on 464° but that is a good thing. I do have to really pull on it hard to get a dark roast.

I’ve had it (“Device too Hot”) occur a few times.
Usually at 240C. But I’ve also had it occur at 220C. I always use S&B dosing capsules. I think finer grind and draw technique might also factor in.
It’s certainly not something that occurs very often.

@MonsterWithoutBrdrs - A couple tricks that help me on devices like the Frolic (or S&B products) with cooling units.
Clean often. A weeks worth of build up comes off a long easier and faster than 2 weeks build up. If I clean it soon enough I can usually get away with spraying it with alcohol and rinsing. If you waited too long, a toothbrush in great on the grooves (On the Venty be careful to not brush the square screen down the garbage disposal, it’s hard to get out). The difficult part for me is the piece directly under the screen in the cooling unit, and I’ll use a dab tool or straightened paper clip to scrape the flower buildup off.
It is much easier to clean immediately after use while it’s still warm. My oven screens became a non-issue when I stopped using dosing capsules and got in the habit of brushing the screen (and oven) immediately after use.

I am the crazy cleaner guy that you all have been dreading. I clean my vapes usually after a single use often while warm. I have many vapes so I move on to the Lobo or my trusty Xvape V3 pro. The frolic still challenges me with the original unit. Under the screen and the grooves that defy your basic q-tips. I am still looking for a stem that I like for the direct adapter. Very short with a lot of balls I am guessing would work. 16mm stems are not plentiful. The way I vape produces a lot of reclaim and I need my unit not too be sticky and that is so far a challenge. Hot iso works best but I don’t have an instant way to get that. So I keep experimenting with PBW which heats a lot more friendly. I do medical like/adjacent research so I need my devices super clean to help with consistent results

Is the Frolic with the Direct Output adapter and stem loaded. Make it more like or better than full convection units like the TM2/TM2 Black and Taffe Bowl?

I think the taffee bowl unless you can load the stem has the most potential for conduction. The bowl heating up. The TM2 with the stem loaded seems close to a ball vape in convection purity. A stem loaded frolic is at the TM2 level at least but probably even less radiant heat from the glass is likely. Any of these three can be made into a full convection device if that is the top priority.

Taffeta Bowle has zero conduction, it 100% convection. My understanding is that the Frolic will not work as a stem loader, but I use mine natively, not DTO. Frolic is hybrid, but has so little conduction it won’t even cook the flower unless you inhale, just like the TM2, though the Frolic oven will be hot to the touch when used, even if no inhale is taken, the TB2 and TM2 will heat up the glass during the hit, but with little enough conduction that the flower next to the glass or ceramic isn’t as dark as the middle.

I wouldn’t say 0% since the ceramic bowl is bound to heat up after a few inhales in a row for example. Even a ball vape has a bit of conduction from the screen and the glass bowl. Inhaling one or more times without heat between the heat inhales would reduce the conduction to close to 0. Perhaps I am missing something here since I don’t own that vaporizer.
You could use the direct adapter and then load for example the missile stem. However I bet this does not work well since convection usually comes with stirring and that would be a bit of a pain.

After finishing a pot I can comfortably remove and empty the pot after vaping. The Solo 3 stem or the TM2 stem got a lot hotter on my devices.

Took the leap and purchased a Frolic to go with my new big 4. Can’t to get it. Any predictions on where it will place in this top 4 …current top 3 in personal preference order…TM2, then my Solo 3 and my Venty?

Same here. There is conduction to be had with Tafee’s ceramic bowls if you want it @Charles. The trick is to make each draw last until the 20 sec or so timeout. I use quick side-breaths to make sure the heater doesn’t shut off. A couple or more of those 20sec hits consecutively and those pots are roasting hot.

Grav Octotaster is 16mm. It’s a one-hitter, but can be filled with cooling balls and capped with a basket screen. I’ve made four to go with Frolic’s DOA.
