Frolic by Limelight Herb

Quick summary: The Frolic hit the market hard with strong early impressions and immediate community love. It feels like the Tinymight 2 and Venty had a baby with punchy vapor, wide open air flow, and a mouthpiece/bowl that scream Storz & Bickel. It’s a new company, so durability is still a question mark, but the vapor straight up spanks.

Limelight Mechanics is a boutique workshop based in Central Serbia, founded in 2013. For twelve years they built high-end vape mods and accessories for the e-cig industry before releasing their first dry herb vaporizer — the Frolic. Each unit is assembled by hand in their Central Serbia workshop.

Hey guys…this is the type of first post we have in mind for vapes that don’t have threads in the fc archive. if you think of anything that’s missing, or if you spot something wrong, please reply here and I’ll correct.

The Frolic is one of the few portable vapes I reach for regularly…truly a great vape!

I thought I’d share my favorite way to use the Frolic. I didn’t like how far away the bowl is using a TM2 stem with the direct oven adapter so I experimented with a mouthpiece that has a 14mm joint.

Not only does it extend into the oven nicely but the glass adds some nice conduction to an otherwise convection dominant vape. Taste for me was super terpy compared to the stock PEEK and the 14mm joint-as-a-bowl is huge if you want it to be.

Without AFC, heat management and airflow will be governed by your stem so add cooling beads if you need and pack accordingly. I like some restriction in this scenario. I used a silicone collar to keep the part above the joint stable but you could use an o-ring too. The seal is great.

Got a male/male 14mm adapter and use it with my favorite glass and pipes too. I love it.

Dope! I haven’t used that adapter yet. I dig the mod and need to give it a go!

I didn’t like my Frolic when I first got it in December 25. It seemed to roast the bowl too dark on the first draw anything above 365f.

I tried to turn the TCR down and up, nothing worked. I noticed when I passed it to a friend his VB was finishing a uniform colour at higher temps, he was using shorter draws.

I didn’t find the shorter draws satisfying, so now I switch the heater off mid hit and I can use it at higher temps without over roasting the bowl prematurely.

Yeah…when I take long ass drags I can roast the bottom a little more than the top. Not too much, but noticeable. Shorter pulls definitely help with that (as with most convection vapes), and a lighter pack. Were you packing loosely or tight?

Yeah I always shut the heater off and keep drawing with convection vapes unless I’m not on a very high temperature. It’s really nice to get all the terps on the way down as your flower cools.

I didn’t really fall in love with the Frolic until using a glass piece with the direct oven adapter. Game changer in terms of taste. Although the PEEK CU is not bad at all.

It definately does it more when I tamp, so I try to pack loose. When my friend uses it, he tamps and adds more, and still gets perfectly vaped bud.

He makes me look like a novice and himself some sort of vape whisperer.

I do enjoy it now I’ve learned to kill the heater early.

 While we move forward here are some cooling stems I put together.

This format giving some tablet woes… CR

I haven’t figured out a naked post to a thread yet so…

Frolic. The original cooler. Tastes great. Cools really well. Cleans really poorly. Hard to reach places. The whole unit has grooves that want to collect debris. Therefore.

I have moved to the direct adapter with a missile stem. Much easier to clean.

I am playing with amounts from .006 to .080. so far I get good control and really use up a lot of battery. Luckily I have 3.

If you run out of battery mid load you got a challenge. I had to unload the bowl.

Hey all. Glad to be back!
I ended up buying my Frolic as soon as the DOA was released and have been using it daily since.
Usually im running Session on 212C or On-Demand at 222C. I was very disappointed with the Missilestem i ordered so i threw this together and it has been my favorite stem since. Im using no metal screen in this build, just stack the 6mm balls in a normal TM2 stem with an added MP so they dont block the hole and slide it into the ovenadapter upside down so the balls are held in place by the screen of the adapter. After a couple of bowls the balls get sticky enough so they dont immediately fall out of the stem when you remove it but keep in mind that they’re not secured in the stem itself.
This massively improves airflow and taste while still supplying enough cooling for deep and satisfying inhales, i’d like to try it with a longer 80mm TM stem but this has become my favorite and only way i use my Frolic. Still thoroughly enjoying it and im very happy to have witnessed it all since the first page back on FC.
Hope everyone is well, cheers!

I understand that cooling without using a bong setup is my preference. I am lazy and don’t want to clean easy to break glass. I run 159 to 200 so original cooler works (cleaning a disaster) and the missil also works (cleaning easy). I am using at least 15 inhales to achieve this and my technique is still evolving. I am using .07 today and I really like how this device with its precision and speed works. I love it. So fast compared to my ball vapes. Not quite the quality of control (slow) but very good and very fastest.

Currently using the original cooler/mouthpiece alot. I do have direct adapter with TM stems

  1. I notice escaped material from the bowl gets into grooves which are hard to clean except with their brush.
  2. The battery is close to the bowl and that can effect closure/opener(?) by clogging the threads
  3. The standard cooler is really difficult to clean because it traps a lot of resin per load .
  4. And there are grooves and an area under the screen which is difficult to clean without screen removal. It builds up fast given my method.
  5. The direct adapter needs cooling devices that are unwieldy or a pain/to clean
  6. I believe the cooling success is achieved at the cost of the amount of reclaim. If. 2-5 inhales produces little reclaim it could mean inefficient extraction or some other reason since this is not tested
  7. Changing the battery mid bowl is difficult. Getting the battery out means unloading the bowl completely or covering it while turning it over. This is a more acute problem because of my style.

Temp 310F

Amount .076

Number of draws: 33

I have a style that uses this many draws along

with a bunch of stirs here is a recap of my 33 plays today

310F. - 11. Still vapor. still has a reasonable taste

2 stirs

325F - 6. Still Vapor. I am super adjusted today

1 stir

334F. 5 still vapor taste just ok

Now I need it to end soon

344F 2 n/a vapor

360F 7 draws vapor taste neutal

360F 2 draws no vapor taste

372F battery depleted

Ended here still maybe 3 meaningful draws until bad taste

You work at it much harder than I do. I set it at 390ºF to start with a full bowl, but with less that 0.1 g I usually set it at max temperature for one or two hits.

It is joyful work over 3 or 4 hrs.

Please tell me about your cleaning regimen.

I am curious about the amount of reclaim that you produce.

Likely a lot more than you. It’s not that bad though. I have spare cooling units, when they are all dirty I drop them in a bag of ISO and shake them. I sometimes have to give a brush, but keep cleaning brushes at the sink for that.

But thinking about it, while I would dumping more vapor to condense, it would be a short period of time. If you are taking a couple hours, it would have a lot longer to condense in yours. Would be an interesting experiment, but I wouldn’t have the patience for the slow method.

How many .1 bowls would you say got you to the state of needing cleaning.

No idea. I don’t count ( low energy vaper, remember) and haven’t weighed my pot into the oven in years. I vape until it needs cleaned, then switch cooling units or clean them. Since I have about 10 vapes I use, I couldn’t even give a number of days. I might go a week or more without using any one device.

 Frolic can be messy with AVB. Some usually jumps out when pulling the top off. As noted, the stuff gets in the cracks. I keep mine very clean with a small brush which I smooshed in a vise, so it’s a little flat brush that works.

I do soak the DOA and that’s a lot easier than the cooling unit. In fact, now that I’ve made four cooling stems, the CU never gets used.

I rotate four Molicels, and only use Bonger or Lobo out of boredom or just a change. Frolic teaches you how to run Frolic. Five months in, still happy with.
