New Simrell Hydro XL

My guess is that the devices you’ve ordered simply went through customs without being identified as dry-herb vaporizers. You’ve ordered around ten of them without any issues, so that could explain why.

Customs officers obviously inspect a huge variety of products, and they may not necessarily be familiar with the dry-herb vaporizer market. If they see something like a metal tube, a battery-powered device, or an electronic heater with no cartridge, liquid, or cannabis-related branding, they might simply classify it as an ordinary electronic device or accessory rather than recognize it as a vaporizer.

So even if importing these devices into Austria is technically prohibited, it could simply be that the products you’ve ordered weren’t recognized as falling into that category during inspection.

As for the Hydro XL, I’d be even less worried about it. It basically just looks like a metal tube, and unless you’re already familiar with these kinds of devices, it’s really difficult to tell what it’s actually used for.

That’s just my guess, though.

What are your yll settings for the hydro xl? Looks like it works great in the yll

I had to pull the inner glass tube. I put it on 95 W for 1 minute and 35 to 40 seconds. It takes a long time you’ve got to pay attention to reset the counter once the 60 seconds runs out you reset it and then you have to pay attention to the click which comes between 35 40 seconds more. So there is a lot of paying attention. There’s no time to run the 60 seconds then set your timer to 40 seconds. There’s been a few times that I ADHD the first timer, but I always hear the click during the second one. This is the depth that I use. I stick the round rubber stopper in the very bottom of the YLL which allows it to sit at the correct depth.

When I’m using my regular small Simrell, I usually keep it flushed with the first fin. With the Hydro, I have to have the cap showing just slightly. Maybe between 1/8 and 1/16.

I am also aware that that buildup that used to get on the inner tube is now most likely going be on the inside. So I don’t know how good it is for the YLL over the long term. I Q-tip it out every day now, but it doesn’t seem to have a lot of buildup. So we will see. As soon as this legendary induction heater comes out that I’ve been hearing about the last year or so, I’m going to get it and hopefully that resolves everything. But for right now, it works phenomenally! It is a process though. I just like it better than a torch.

Mate, I think across the pond (New Zealand) we have even more strict laws on importing these sort of goods. I seem to get lucky as I try to order component parts separately. Good luck with this one, I hope they allow it through!

The XL adapter is available on Simrell site.

I like the idea of a stem, was thinking it would be same diameter as the xl. Going to pass until a cigar size is available. Probably should jump on the adapter by itself in hopes of further expansion. Damn.

I’m with you on this one. I will move on the cigar style stem that looks more symmetrical. Hopefully the large frame takes some of the heat out of the vapor. I am head over heels in love with my XL:1st_place_medal::1st_place_medal::1st_place_medal::100::100::100::heart::heart::heart::fire::fire::fire:, but I need to use it on a large bong if I’m going to be exclusively using my XL. I can definitely get away with hitting this on a small bong or a medium bong but not if I’m going to be hitting it all day long.
The second that cigar style stem drops IT WILL BE MINE!!! Lol

After a week of ownership, do I dare to say this is the hardest hitting vape I’ve ever owned. The effects are so strong and last so long. I feel like I wake up high. I might have to set some rules for myself for this vape. It feels like I feel when I go through my dab only phases.

Whenever I try a new vape, no matter what I use it exclusively for seven days so I can get a solid read on the device. This vape hits different in a good way! I’m going to give it a little more time, but might be some solid vapes in the classifieds very soon.

Yeah I hope the cigar request catches momentum. I’ve always pulled cooling spirals and whatnots out immediately, but this one could use some cooling in a stem setup. Even been tempted recently to add water to my glass to add a cooler sensation. Tempted, we’ll see lol.

From what I read on the discord there’s gonna be an XL exclusive stem not sure about the time line.

Been trying it out today. My inductor ain’t doing it for this beast cap. Even the V1 head. Tried a small flame and got some thin vapor. Think I need to break it in more and should be excellent once dialed in. Got the bigger torch to help, a little too much actually yielding a dark roast :grimacing:

What torch was it? That Flame looked huge haha

Big buddy torch  Going to turn down the flame next attempt.

Dang man. Had to pull out the big buddy and try it after seeing that. Much quicker heat up than my micro torch and even denser vapor. Old ringing ears make the clicks hard to hear for me over the big buddy jet exhaust lol. Definitely needs stopped at click one or taking some chances.

For both this and the Solaris (any manual vape, TBH) it would be great if the Wikis could be updated with reference points for heating with torches and IH I think. It’s kinda hard to go through all the posts to find what worked.

Got mine in! Works like a beaut ^-^

I sometimes have difficulty lining up the pins, which can be precarious when unscrewing the lid while things are still hot. But I think it’s a user error issue as sometimes it secured well enough that I need to yank it off of the XL.

Mine showed up today which is about a week after I was hoping for that trip but all good. Might have to try to find a way to use it this weekend… man it’s so big! Here it is next to my Nocs people/bird/squirrel watchers (binoculars) for another size reference:

Really glad I opted to wait on the case because it is going to be perfect for storage when not in use.
