i feel like this time it’s a bit different. Before it was the intercooler inside of the vape and the thermal core thats hidden and adds function, this time they flat out just copied the design itself. You can still tell them apart but it’s clear who they’re getting their ideas from. Doesn’t sit right with me at all, but i understand your position. The space has thrived on ideas of various makers being iterated on by the community or other manufacturers but this just looks like a simrell for reddit-users. Hard pass.

The productpage was accidentally leaked yesterday and has since been removed. Here are 3 pictures that discordusers were able to grab in the short timewindow they were accessible. Subject to change i guess and the description reads like an AI placeholder so not totally reliable information.

It’s Genuine. I have had a prototype for a couple of months but asked not to share online which I have respected. Also wish the Simrell fanboys would create there own thread about how Austin invented the wheel!

Never had a Simrell device but agree it’s uncanny.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? I personally prefer that when a design is copied from the eye test, the maker that did so also introduces an improvement or some separating characteristic.
Otherwise it is kinda boring and feels low effort imo. Can’t we just buy simrell stems and put the Tempest head on it anyway? And it’s the same head?
I’d rather the focus be on maintaining stock.
Edit: sorry I didn’t read enough, it does look like some changes to the head design. I’m just used to MH leading on innovation so to see something that appears to be recycled from someone else is a little of a letdown.
That said, worth noting the counterpoint that others have copied his designs and innovations.

You dont need to be a fanboy of a specific brand to not like copycats.
It is refreshing to see innovation instead of being annoyed by imitation.

Coming in from tech background where copying and iteration is just …the way it is.
I mean there’s only so many ways to shape a stick.
As long as iterating or bringing something new to the table, it’s just the way things go.
if it’s a blatant thing, like Chinese knockoffs with lower material quality mascaraing as the genuine, then that’s a penalty flag.
Or…and let me make it up…..if you have an innovation in a ballvape, and then have a cross developed version of it in another makers eco system, only to be cut out when they just copy it…that’s kinda slimy.

only way to really combat this is ignore it and continue innovating let everyone else scoop up your old ways. While many products looks similar rarely do they provide the same craftsmanship and small details that make the original makers work unique. I mean you can buy a Chinese knock off iPad but is it really an iPad lol. It’s a lesser product with a shiny exterior

Getting back on the subject of this thread I recently (3 weeks) received my Tempest 2. I am fairly surprised how fast it ascended my reach test pecking order. I’m still going through my honeymoon phase with it which has lasted longer than some of my others like the Venty or Frolic. Truly loving this little device. My question for those who have the new heater core….is it a worthy addition to the setup? Is the vapor signature demonstrably different and if so how so? Thank all

Regarding the heater cores: Some people report a (perceived?) heavier conduction-effect with it. While I would very much like that, I don’t understand how that is supposed to happen. The thermal mass is still in the same place and the air path doesn’t change either, so why do you guys think that some people report this? Is it just feelcraft?
I personally feel like the cores main difference is just convenience in comparison to handling the balls, but I don’t own one yet, so can only report on it myself when the Mad Heaters EU-shop is available.

I wonder if a 444 stainless core would “supercharge” it with that steel being magnetic? Seems (just a guess) there’s more direct contact with the housing versus balls which could add to the conduction effect…
Does anyone know what type of steel is the stainless core version? Maybe it is already magnetic but I just couldn’t find that on the website.

It’s neat that MadHeaters is offering a Stainless Steel option for the Heater Core. Love me some options. I can’t imagine that this stainless steel heater core will perform much different than the existing stainless steel ball media variants though. The Titainum core was more appealing to me because titainum ball media is expensive and the Ti core is affordable.

I have been playing around with 440c stainless balls in the tempest. In my experience the clicks, temps indicator, and my own IR temp measurement of the head screen (un attached to the bowl) all reach similar levels to the zirc balls after the same amount of time in the YLL or 1 sec longer. But the heat retention is of course better. I started with 3mm balls but switched to 2.5 mm and now the thing is a complete hammer, although with more restriction.

The new slim looks interesting, and if they can sell a tempest for the same price as the T2 head that’s a win for everyone
Yes it does look similar to the simrell stems, but it also looks similar to the wooden revolve 2 stems, which is still my favourite 
This is my original T1 with the upgraded head kit. I’ve now swapped the green Vi for a blue one

Very valid point. The Revolve Gen 1 stem had a thermal sleeve and a tapered mouthpiece. This new Tempest Slim stem is the latest iteration with those same attributes.

The Slim looks great. @Brenyo have you ever considered making a shorter cap with half as many balls, as an accessory?
For those who prefer to always use the bowl in 0.1g mode, or smaller, I think this would be a worthwhile addition, as it would eliminate excess heat calories, creating more comfort in the pull, while also decreasing heat up times.
