I’ve been playing around with my SS slim the past couple of days, and I’m happy to report I do feel justified adding another Tempest to the collection
I’ve swapped rubies and the SS core a few times, and I think I’ve got it dialed in. Both rubies and the SS core work best 10w higher than my T2 settings.
I’ve got stem closed, head fully open, and the bowl set to medium. I do have my YLL adaptor set slightly higher than the Mad Heaters manual. The ceramic disc is pushed down flush to the bottom of the glass tube to try and concentrate the heat on the ball chamber
I have just tried the SS core with 95w x45 seconds. I’m taking very short joint style puffs, and slowly blowing the vapour out. I got about 15 hits with visible vapour, and I stopped the clock at an impressive 2 minutes 30s! I think my record with the T2 was close to 2 minutes
I waited a couple of minute and did one more 85w x40 cycle. I got 10 puffs over 2 minutes. The vapour for both cycles was very smooth, and I even managed to blow some pretty good “smoke” rings
This is probably the best set up for MTL sessions. Check out the AVB after those 2 cycles
I got my stainless head and core in a few days ago from the US site, to put on my OG T2 (should this be in the main T2 thread?). They sent me 4 stainless cores lol, only ordered one. It looked like the address might have been the same as VGoodiEZ, but I did not confirm. Did anyone else notice that? I actually didn’t like the core much when I tried it, and put 3mm rubies in pretty quickly. I felt like the airflow was very inconsistent as the core pieces moved around inside the cap, compared to the balls. It was hitting nicely when the airflow was right though.
Really loving the stainless cap though, it’s a nice upgrade to the Tempest for me. Holds temp noticeably longer, but the heat up time isn’t too much longer. Seems significantly helpful for outdoors and lower ambient temp usage so far, which I do a lot of. I don’t notice much if any drop in flavor from the stainless cap, but I have not tried them side by side yet.
The stainless cap works well on both the stainless and titanium bowls, but I’m preferring it on the titanium bowl so far I think. I feel like it is a little bit easier to get to good vapor from cold, takes a little bit less heat, and retains less heat in between bowls. I don’t like loading into too hot of a bowl because the weed gets melty and stuck everywhere, and makes it more annoying to load.
I mostly only use my T2 for one hitters personally, and I’ve been mostly keeping the bowl on the 0.15 setting, loading super loose scoop style and tapped on the side to settle. It’s easier for me to hit the perfect temp and the roasts have been beautiful. I don’t think I’m going to be using the titanium cap very much anymore.
I updated my family photo. I need to replace the Slim Vi with a blue one to match my ebony T1 but I might wait till the wooden heat shields are available
I’m really loving the SS Slim with the SS heat core and it’s getting a lot of use
Thanks for your write ups! I’m curious how you find the cooling on the slim stem compared with the Tempest 1 stem. I used to have a t1 stem and the cooling was insaaane
Nothing comes close to revolve/t1 cooling, I use all my vapes without the spirals tho so T2/T2S, simrell stems/tornado/anvil are basically just straight tubes.
