Had to eek one in for Lotus Friday, almost forgot.
Hope you are all doing well and are in good health.
Note: I’ve still never combusted in my lotus, ever. Come close a few times, and gone dark plenty, but never combustion or even black AVB.
With the lotus IMO your breath is the main safety mechanism, if you greatly increase your inhale speed and pull the torch, you will cool the plate down before it can overheat and burn the flower. It’s almost inverse of a sticky brick. It’s very responsive, take advantage of that.

Hit my lotus for the first time last night. I used the Sherlock, as I prefer my solo 3 dry. At first I was too delicate with my torch. @420vapezone always calls it a unicycle whenever he talks about it, so I was expecting lots of fiddly torch adjustment shenanigans. Got next to nothing. Eventually I just stuck the blue part of the flame on the middle of the flower and then I got clouds! I felt from the taste like the bowl was kicked but the avb was barely tan! Maybe that was because of all my fucking around in the beginning. Have to try again for science! I was high af though. Now I understand what a full convection high is and why people love it so much! I gotta weigh my standard hiflo solo 3 load vs the loose pack to the brim (I wanted to let the cap tamp it a tad). Sorry for the SOC rambling, but I just tried my veazy out this morning and I’m high af from that! The m7 is next on the list!

Also, I found the flavor profile very interesting. I’m going through an eighth of my first chem strain and not enjoying it much. On the lotus I found it much less objectionable (still not my preferred flavors though). It wasn’t blunted like my experience with the Veazy, just different somehow from my solo 3.
I think I’m gonna very much like the ritual and the control the torch gives me. Looking forward to matching it with a nice churchwarden!

My lotus arrived yesterday so took it for a spin last night - great vape and very easy to get great vapor; it ws also smaller than I was expecting and in a quality case.

Many friends have told me about combusting in their lotus, maybe it is just luck, but I haven’t combusted ever in mine either. Other devices and stick vapes, very much so 
sometimes I’ll overheat a spot for an sec and get a hotspot, but usually that’s about it. I think a lot of people start with much too large of a flame, and too diffuse of a flame. My $12 harbor freight micro torch is still my usual go-to for my lotus, turned almost fully down.
I’m sure with enough time and use it’ll eventually get me, but here’s hoping 
I find the small amount of water in an ash catcher is perfect for the lotus, great balance of comfort and flavor, also allows rapid feedback unlike a larger bubbler or bong, smaller volume of air to move with your lungs.

While I have no more j-hooks due to spasticity related glass elimination, I truly appreciate the professional touch of you not only getting to use a J-hook with that particular tool… but that you took care to use a Keck clip!

So I tried to do my lotus Friday yesterday evening but for the second time in a row I can barely get clouds even with aggressive torching. It definitely extracts some but it’s very terpy. My explanation is that the strain I’m on rn is horribly cured. Comes in a sealed bag with a humidity pack just like the rest of pa medical (phg is the brand), but it’s only like half dried. I swear more of it stays in my grinder teeth than makes it through the holes! That’ll teach me to buy $10 promotional eighths
Anyway, my working hypothesis is that the hot air from the top needs to dry out the weed first before it can vaporize anything with a vape point above 100c. Theoretically then it would eventually finish extracting but I just finished it in the Veazy. Got one decent rip plus a little on the second one.
Guess I’ll see when I finish this eighth. Otherwise it may be that the laws of thermodynamics have changed, at least in my location

Yep, that’s likely exactly what it is.
When I run into that, I grind some of the herb, and leave it open on my table for a few hours. Come back to it, and it’ll be dried out enough to get good results. Grinding increases the surface area and makes it dry out much much quicker, but obv can’t do it too far in advance.

Got the Lotus stand from @LBKomp and it looks and works great!
Not sure whether it’s the intended way but I just leave it one during vaping. It’s quite comfortable as a handle and snug enough that the Lotus feels secure in my hand.
