The QOQ & QOQ+ by Vaphit

It’s like a polished cheaponic or a smaller TRWW vape. And those are awesome. The lack of click isn’t a big deal at all.

On the other hand, you can get a V-stick from TRWW for even cheaper.

You also should be able to use the bowl with something I’m sending you in the mail soon

I bought a combo kit (Vaphit X and QOQ) about a month ago. They are my first venture into butane vapes and I found it very easy to catch on, especially with the X for some reason. QOQ delivers great flavor.

If you want more capacity with the QOQ you can mount the bowl piece upside down.

I’m not a torch guy so I hacked my Vaponic with a metal cylinder that comes with the Wand IH. It’s inside one of the bangers that comes with the Wand that I knew I’d never use, so I broke the glass to get the IH friendly cylinder inside and it was a perfect fit.

I’ve been considering doing something similar for the larger QoQ because I think it’d work well. Cutting a slit in the cylinder as suggested by @jackrod is a good idea to allow for some expansion of the quartz when heated but luckily I didn’t run into problems with my Vaponic.

I remember trying metal wire but it was clumsier and less effective than the cylinder. I’m not sure where to find different size thin metal inductive cylinders easily though.

Edit: Oh I see @DarthDomo used metal tubing cut to size, ok.

One drawback to this method is that it obscures the bowl so you can’t see your flower cooking for visual cues. But of course, you could use timing methods.

I’m going to be going to Amsterdam, among other places in Europe, next year. Was thinking about taking an unused qoq along and just picking up a cheap torch while there. Seems like a cheap but premium way of experiencing some of that legendary weed. Looking at some Dutch sites it seems cheaper to bring one from ‘murka. I’ll give it to someone who looks like they could use it before I leave

Obviously I’m also going to try out some coffee houses too. But is there a better, basically disposable vape out there?

Yeah tubing works great and you can find it in most mm sizes on amazon for cheap. The slit is key, lets the metal stay on snug by spring tension. I recommend getting .5mm wall with the same OD as the heater you’re going to put it on. Heatup time may be longer than with the vaponic setup there, but the flipside is you then have more stored heat to work with. ID will be 1mm less than the heater this way. Cut it with a hacksaw. It may spring open a little when you cut the slit, can bend it back to fit tight.

Wire is no good. Not that it can’t sometimes work, but you need a wide area for the eddy currents to flow in ideally. Wire only worked for me when I had all the wraps touching, and even then it was not even.

You can see the herb through the top of the test tube, or through the slit, so the slit really serves 2 functions.

As far as “inductive metal”
Stainless steel 304 or 316 is fine. It’s not ferromagnetic, but it doesn’t matter. It will still be heated by joule heating as a result of eddy currents and the low electrical conductivity of ss. Having a nice wide area for these to flow in helps. The sleeve I sent to @DarthDomo was able to maintain 100W easily in the YLL.

I think you’ll be hard pressed to find much better for the price. Though The Rogue Wax Works has more size options with e.g. the terpedo for larger, QC mini for smaller, as well as the terpcicle/quartz caps for much larger. V-stick I think is right around the QOQ+ size, but technically is even cheaper. No spare parts like the QOQ though. That may be a good insurance policy against travel and breakage.

That will be a lucky stranger, make sure to teach them how to use it!

Would magnetic metal work better or be too much or a bad idea generally?

I decided to order some 0.3mm thick 403 stainless steel that comes in a roll vs. A tube so I can cut it a little easier.

You seem to really know your stuff with induction heaters so I figured I would ask. I am a total IH noob with no idea how it actually works tbh

It could work better, it could also be too much. Generally I would not say it’s a bad idea. I would hazard a guess that your plan of 403 ss foil in 0.3mm will work just fine. Hopefully it will be annealed and bend easily. What IH are you using?

Ferromagnetic material (403 ss included) will heat faster in an IH, because in addition to eddy current joule heating, there are magnetic hysteresis losses, from the fact that the material is rapidly magnetized, demagnetized, and remagnetized in the opposite direction.

However, this may or may not be a good thing for building an IH QOQ. In effect the ferromagnetic material will draw more current from the induction coil, and also be more efficient in terms of energy generated in the workpiece vs energy expended through the coil.

Generally you also have to consider the fact that more metal in the coil will also lead to a higher current draw.

If this combined with the material makes the current draw too large for the IH, though, it may go into over-current protection mode (YLL), or even be damaged if there is no over current protection available like in some DIY IH and adjacent earlier models.

I think the safest way to evaluate new IH loads is to use a “mini ZVS” board hooked up to a lab bench power supply with current limit. If the draw is too much it will drop the voltage, so it never delivers too much current. I have a recommendation for a 30V 10A supply if you are interested. However it may not be directly translatable to other IHs.

Thank you for the info! :folded_hands:t2: hopefully being pretty thin foil won’t make it too too much.

I also wonder if just not covering so much of the cap could reduce the over-current risk since using less metal.

I have the original QOQ which is smaller I can also test out first.

I’m using the YLL IH 3.0 so it does have over-current protection thankfully, and it auto-adjusts watts lower when needed.

No, flipping the bowl/tube blocks off air intake around the top of the ‘bowl’ inside the outer quartz piece.
The glass screen stops the tube from seating all the way down. As a reference, It even misses the bottom o-ring. So it sits higher inside the outer shell & blocks off air, unfortunately.
I already sized up & made a screen to elevate the “bottom” in the longer end. I didn’t dry fit the QoQ together with the bowl down side up.

You can definitely start with a smaller band and see how it goes with delivering the power. The YLL will be a good tool. I bet you will get 100W delivered easy even with a smaller band.

Overall I think I like the tubing more, since it’s already the right shape to hold onto the cap. But the foil has the potential to heat up faster, that could be nice.

Just push the upside down bowl to barely touching the lowest o-ring and don’t screw the top metal piece tight and it works fine. I’ve used mine at least a dozen times that way. Not an elegant solution but it gives you roughly twice as big a bowl. The small bowl on the QOQ is

What I do is push the upside down bowl to just touching the lowest o-ring then don’t screw the metal piece holding the outer glass piece down tightly-leave it a bit loose. Not elegant but it works fine and gives you at least double the size of the bowl.

I love my QOQ but it’s small bowl is the QOQ’s biggest drawback by far. I don’t understand why they wasted so much of the bowl piece by putting the glass screen so high-or they could have fixed it perfectly by making the bowl tube slightly shorter.

OK, yeah I wasn’t leaving a gap, I tightened the outside. They have the QoQ+, a domed one now. Put a Terpcicle in a Hookmate or other J pipe or dry hit a bong & have at 'er if you want the same but bigger bowls/effects. I love the Terpcicle, especially on a Cactus glass.

Looks like the first batch of QoQ plus had some units with rough threads or something. Not ideal, but before the units were even delivered to anyone, they’ve already sent out second complete kits, with corrected threads! And included video instructions on how to free up and make the first batch work smoothly as intended, just working it back and forth a bit.

fantastic customer service from vaphit :green_heart: rarely do I get told about a problem, and feel better about the company after lol, but this is one case. It’s wild that their customer support and service has been better than many companies in this industry.

Plus, their O-rings are the emergency last line of defense for any vaporist :joy: they’re so generous with spares. I still have the spare bowl and heater for my original QoQ as well, but the first ones have survived many times being knocked over on the table.

:joy: It’s funny, but the exact same thing happened back when the first version of the QOQ came out. If I remember correctly, the glass cap was difficult to remove from the metal part, and some people actually broke it while trying to take it apart for cleaning.

To make up for it, they sent us a second kit completely free of charge. In fact, I still have mine, brand new and unused!

That’s some truly exceptional customer service on their part!

I got the same email. I would say that is above and beyond any standard and it’s truly appreciated!

Have you used the v-stick? The two seem qualitatively different from what I can find. Apparently the vstick has a bigger bowl and better airflow. Though the qoq page on vgoodiez says it now has improved airflow. Idk how new that change is. Both look like they’d be great for my use case. The parts and case with the qoq are nice but I could easily rig up something to protect the rogue too if it seems better.

I have been looking at this on the VGoodIEZ page it is really tempting me especially at $60 price point. I already have a torch. I think I may pick it up next month.

Haven’t used the V-stick, or the QOQ+, just made a lot of similar devices DIY.

The reason I say they are similar is really mostly the bowl size.

The V-stick is on a standard 14mm joint which is typically 12mm OD tubing. When I asked vaphit for the size of the QOQ+ bowl, they said it was 12mm OD, 10mm ID. The v-stick I don’t know the wall thickness but I think it is probably not 1mm, probably a little thicker. The bowl looks deeper on the V-stick though, so it probably comes out as a wash for capacity.

V-stick airflow is probably a little better with that larger hole and no glass screen, but I don’t know.

For your use case I think the QOQ+ will be a solid choice, but I know the V-stick comes from a guy who actually vapes and tests his products.

Maybe both is the answer. Or if you want something with a bigger capacity, get the Terpedo etc. All of these glass test tube vapes hit way harder and taste way better than they have any right to, so you really can’t go wrong.

The vaphit carrying case is so so good and the price of it is just perfect for what you get

Also reading the posts above about how vaphit a a company are very good with customers is something we talked about on FC and seen the same on reddit.

I have contacted them to let them know about this thread/forum

Oh and the other thing is this is the UK vaphit store just fyi
