As @Albus said, you won’t really need it under most circumstances. If my research is right, early models had some problems with splitting, hence the beeswax, that’s walnut though, yours is oak, it’ll be fine for ages.
Maybe I don’t really need to apply anything, but I just want to show my TM2 some love ![]()
It won’t hurt it and will give it a lovely lustre, so there’s that.
Just bought some stems and beeswax for my much-loved TM2 black. I love my zirconia stem but I am in the mood for testing something new. One for experimenting with pearls, one standard short stem with balls, one wooden Ed’s TNT
You will marvel at how each delivery method will have a character all of its own.
You can always find great bees wax from your local beekeeper if you have one. My older brother is a beekeeper and I get the best tasting honey from him. I need to get some beeswax from him now.
Beeswax is definitely safe. Probably the best product is a blend of mineral oil and beeswax. Something like Ed’s Bomb Ass Butter that @Vitolo mentioned in this thread way back.
If you can’t find a blended product then applying a thin coat of food grade mineral oil followed by a thin coat of beeswax I think is best but beeswax alone is totally fine.
You can find mineral oil in kitchen supply stores that they use for cutting boards or maybe in a pharmacy it’s sometimes called “liquid paraffin”.
You probably won’t see one branded antimicrobial as they had that labeling around covid. Same stuff inside though.
I seem to remember that in the FC TM thread some members who used something else than beeswax (linseed oil?) ended up with a fish aroma that didn’t vanish…
I am using 100% Beeswax for wooden furniture which is available in a hardware store.
A friend brought me a jar of honey from the only local beekeeper. This is his last batch, he’s calling it a day and the bees are going elsewhere. I may try and snag some of the good stuff before it’s gone. If the beeswax is as good as the honey!
What a momentous day, been rather busy. It all began with Magic Vaporizer being cagey about the return, they relented in the end but it planted a seed. What if I had to keep it. What would I do. Sell my old vapes! So I busily cleaned and put together a TM2 bundle for Ebay. Lobo is next. Between the two I should cover the cost of this beauty. There was also the prospect of not having anything to match the mouthpiece which arrived today.
In three years time when both warranties have expired, those wood sleeves are getting swapped over. Did a mock up of a Tinymight Black Purple Heart in Affinity Photo for a preview. Original photo from a Planet of the Vapes promo.
Those TM2’s are Beauties one day I’ll have to get one
yeah still waiting on the new black hardware with purple heart wood… figured it would have dropped by now but guess they did that redwood or whatever instead
I got my stems and beeswax. The standard stem with balls doesn’t fit the travel case, works and taste different, but is also good. For the Ed’s tnt stem the TM2 needs a leather jacket to be cool, now I have put some balls in it but I will try it with a cooling unit. I am very happy that I don’t have to clean so often now, the TM2 with a clean stem is so delicious. The beeswax and testing the other stems is for tomorrow.
Wow Sabina, those are very nice..Now you have choices..too cool..
Imagine having to ignore the one on the right because you’ve got to keep testing the one on the left. This is their first proper photo with a proper camera, a product photographer would laugh but wow, it’s easy to take a good shot of these. Black Walnut has Chechen Wood Mouthpiece and the PH has some kind of maple burl, both from Azzwood Customs. Scruffy Woofer stem on the right. He’s opening up an online retail outlet soon, not taking internet orders via socials any more. Looking to get another mouthpiece from him asap. Maybe two.
Hello, I’ve built a cap for on the go so that the glass mouthpiece is protected. It’s not quite finished yet, as I still want to integrate balls into the tube as a cooling unit. For testing, it will work for now. As always with me, made of titanium, and this time with a few pictures of the manufacturing process.
