Transient Mist Flow Pro & TVibe — Two New Dry Herb Vaporizers

Thanks for this insider info. This does change my initial impressions a fair bit. Let’s see how this develops.

Of course the reason those fees are paid is because the tech they’re using is patented by another company. Haven’t heard the word patent in this entire discussion. Are any company’s IP rights being violated in all this?

The only thing I have to add is look at their at return policy. It’s Mega strict and they don’t do returns only replacements and its within 2 days only. Im cautiously optimistic. This could be a amazing device. But their return policy could be ALOT better. Funny part is how i just got done bitching how I couldn’t clean under the screen and around the heater on my tm2 without breaking warranty. Or breaking the device itself. Whelp I wouldn’t have that concern here.

I believe most of China is on holiday until about the 8th, so I would encourage approaching that entire website as unfinished, incomplete, or just plain wrong, until some communication can be established with Transient Mist. From my understanding, that website was put up in haste as their holidays approached, and I’m not even certain it should be fully public facing and live rn.

I dont understand the point of putting the website up with haste. That does the opposite of encourage any positive outlook but I get you are trying to be diplomatic.

There’s info from you so far that could turn the tides of the general view but we are missing a lot and nothing is validated so I understand the skepticism here.

We need to see more from the maker and by that I don’t mean copying… and it would be really really nice to hear Dejan’s sentiment because a large portion of us came from FC and appreciate the care and personal touch he put into his launch.

Absolutely. I’m not speaking for them here, just speaking to a little of what I know. Once they are back from holiday I can encourage their engagement here. I don’t want to muddy waters with conjecture, so I’ll abstain from further comment for now.

I haven’t mentioned patents, because I thought it was clear, that we are not talking about counterfeits. A fraud, labeling his own bag as Louis Vitton and selling it as original, is a counterfeit. That is bad. A Tempest 2 taking inspiration from Simrell or whoever and putting on their own twist, making a different enough product and marketing it as such, is perfectly fine in my book. And those are not just semantics, but legally relevant differences. And if that process makes something more accessible to poorer people, who have the same needs as everyone else, then I am all for it.

I realize though, that I am contributing to derailing this thread with our off-topic, so I will refrain from further comments as well. Sorry.

I’m on their website now & this is what the manual for the Flow Pro looks like…

I have no knowledge of the maker situation, but I was asked to test these for a few weeks, and I can confirm that the performance is there for both of these devices.

There were a couple issues that I offered suggestions for, we will see how the revised setup works, but I say there is a lot of promise here.

Here are a couple pics I took during testing.

Cheers

Yeah, you need to use a web crawler (or simply delete the word “new” from the existing URL: facepalm) to find the URLs for the originals, but they are there, unfortunately.

I was responding to the general idea that all companies copy stuff from each other and there is no problem in doing this. Generally, the problem is overcome by paying the owner of said “copied” tech or design.

We don’t know the legal status of the technology used in these vapes, so I stopped commenting on that specifically. It is obviously identical or as near as damn it to the Frolic internally though.

We can also see that the same design language is used. If you placed these together with a Frolic and no indication of the manufacturer of each of the devices, undoubtedly most people would think they were from the same company.

Then we have the blatant theft of the website. This is unacceptable, both ethically and legally.

Taken together, this is enough for me to personally never purchase from this company regardless of patents etc. Of course, everyone is free to do what they like and promote or buy these as they see fit.

I get what you’re saying, but the device you chose to illustrate your point is probably the wrong one to use.

The Tempest is an example of how things should be done. It was inspired by the Thermal Accumulator that was the og stick style ball vape designed by Phat Piggie.

The Tempest was designed with the assistance and cooperation of Phat Piggie. The original Tempest thread on FC was also titled “The Tempest by Madheaters and Phat Piggie”. It also had it’s own clear design language and styling.

Slightly different from this situation :slightly_smiling_face:

But you can make a vape that is exactly the same as the Frolic and it is ok as long as the design language and styling are different?

So just change a few words and the colour and material used and that makes it a totally different vape and ok?

Well I for one with the guy who has brought this to us all the luck in the world and am sure we will see someone use this idea in the future as it is a very good idea. I mean if I was design a vape I would be using something very similar if not identical to the heater that is in one of the most popular vapes on the market and for now that is the Frolic. This will change in time of coarse as new heater tech comes out and that of coarse will be used as why wouldn’t you use what works? why would you design something that uses lesser technology just because someone else is using that tech?

It is a different story if something has been patented and someone is copying but am not seeing anyone mentioning that here?

Did people make this big a deal when the Arizer EQ came out when there was already a volcano?

Sid the S&B guy say

“That bag system was mine I designed it put all the work into it then someone else brought out a blow up bag vape that is cheaper, how dare they!!!”"

You conveniently missed out where I said he had the go ahead from PhatPiggie to make the Tempest. There were more additions to the Tempest such as the visual indicators to differentiate it as it’s own device as well.

Obviously, if the use of the tech in these vapes is above board, then it is ok to go ahead with them. Using the design style established by Dejan is bad form though, whatever the case may be.

You know, it was long ago, and FC is gone now, but I seem to recall one of Dejan’s things when he was coming up with the Frolic is to standardize as much as possible. That is part of why the Frolic doesn’t have it’s own dosing capsules.

Also, this is NOT the first repairable vape, Dewan seems to encourage you to repair your own device.

Yes, I recall something like that myself. He definitely altered the cooling unit so S&B capsules could be used. No point reinventing the wheel Re dosing caps when plenty of us have hundreds of S&B caps laying around!

I personally use Airvape Legacy Pro capsules in my Frolic as they work well.

You might be surprised to hear that’s exactly what happened.

The company was called Herbalizer.

It wasn’t even a budget product. They invested serious capital. Many argued it was actually a superior device.

This is just me mussing and not what I think is happening.

I just wonder if Dejan is the main man behind all this as he has noticed that the Frolic has went over its peak in sales and now wants to cater to people who cant afford the Frolic without attaching himself to this so it does not affect Frolic sales.

I just hope whatever happens that Dejan continues to get the support he deserves and that sales of the Frolic are not affected by this.

@TheDankDestroyer I get where you are coming from with this and it is dog eat dog but for most people who cant afford the Frolic this is good news as they can now buy one and for all the people who want to stay morally correct they can continue to buy the Frolic.

Would be good to have all parties concerned making a forum account so they can answer all these questions and give their standpoint on this discussion.

Oh and just to say I do feel a bit bad for supporting this and wanting this to work out but at the same time if it affects more people in a positive way than it does people in a negative way then it cant be all that bad?
